One door to go in and there was a group of women just standing in the way gabbing (still in the way on the way out). They could have moved to anyplace in the large inside and not been a traffic block.
Service at the counter was very friendly.
We picked up several things to go so we could see what we favored.
We tried the “giant” cinnamon roll($5)…not giant and not very cinnamon tasting. The cream cheese frosting was more like whipped sugar grease with cream cheese flavoring, sad. that was a no go.
The Champagne and raspberry cake ($6), super dry and not very flavorful.
The turtle cheese cake($6)…I was super excited to try this and it let me down. The crust is bland and a hint of burnt, the dollop of “chocolate whip” was like bland whipped sugar grease again. the cheese cake part was rich and set nice….just kind of bland.
The carrot cake with cream cheese frosting ($6)…it was the second best thing we tried (rite after the berry bar). It was still heavy and very dense BUT, moist with good flavors. More like a spice cake than carrot in flavor but good. the frosting again…bland and more like whipped sugar grease.
Then there was the Berry bar….the best thing we tried. Good flavor, a tad dense but overall the favorite.
We mite try something else next time, on the fence.
Lovin oven is going to be the new go-to dessert spot. Previously, the go-to spot was another Salem staple, but they have since been dethroned. Not only were the desserts some of the best I’ve had, it was extremely reasonably priced.
The bakery itself is a cozy spot. There are only a few tables, but it was very quaint.
