Food was very well cooked, oysters were a hit. The pork with cauliflower, sausage and caper sauce was exceptional, a great recommendation. Wife loved the Ox cheek pie but the chirros blew her away, such a quirky, flavoursome dish. Cheese board could have done with a dollop of chutney but cheese was very good quality and a perfect end to a great meal. Service was good without being intrusive. Good value for money.
For our starters we had the whitebait and olives, main was the pork belly and fish & chips with a side of charred hispi cabbage and I had the deconstructed cheesecake.
The quality of the food is just unbelievable, it’s probably some of the best food we’ve had. That whitebait was definitely the largest and best I’ve had! The charred hispi cabbage would be good to have as a full main meal (or just order 2 or 3 portions). My friend loved her fish & chips, she said it was very tasty and crunchy.
The wine prices are also quite reasonable, not what you’d expect from a fine dining place like this so we had two bottles, both of which were nice.
Highly recommended and well worth a re-visit.
Service was professional and polite. Decor is classy and comforting. I’d say best for couples or groups of up to four.
Maybe lacking a truly wow factor but all round a very solid culinary experience and I’ll be back to try the Sunday lunch.

We all agreed that the under cooked roast beef wasn’t warm and very tough such that steak knife didn’t cut it. All the sides were over cooked and lukewarm. Nice big Yorkshire Puddings again not warm.
Staff are pleasant but don’t have to work too hard for their + 12.5% gratuity added to the bill.
Had olives to start which were lovely then the Roast Beef. Not overcooked but a bit chewy. Sides were fab especially the Yorkies, Garlic potatoes and red wine jus.
Finished with the lightest Sticky Toffee pudding I’ve ever had. Beautiful meal all in all.
Staff very efficient and friendly

We were welcome by Alex, a friendly member of the staff that talked us through the highlights of the menu for the day and suggested the right cocktails to go with the food, providing the explanation for his reasoning.
We went for crunchy oysters, Scotch eggs, white bait, lamb and potatoes with black pudding and cheese board.
I have to say that last time I had such a great food was at Michelin star grade establishment. The flavours and the textures were perfectly balanced and the attention to the presentation of the plates was clear too. Everything was enhanced by the fantastic drinks that everything was paired with. The bill came at about 60 pound each including a good tip, which I thought it was good value considering the amount and quality of the food, plus the couple of cocktails each. It’s a great place and we will definitely go back.
