The staff are phenomenal and welcoming. We had a wonderful table out on the terrace where we thoroughly enjoyed our 3 course meal. From the entrees to desserts, each dish was flavourful and so tasty.
The cheese soufflè and duck rillette was a great way to start followed by the pork and hubby had the beef short rib. For dessert we had the coconut mousse and honey cream.
We had a wonderful dining experience and were so pleased to be able to celebrate our anniversary at the Long Apron.
Our degustation menu was to die for featuring five courses, plus an amuse-bouche and a palate cleanser, which felt like good value for money at $140 per person.
We chose our own wines by the glass, as opposed to going with the paired offerings, and that worked well for us, as my wife is not a big drinker, and we shared glasses.
Standout menu items included the raw kingfish carpaccio appetiser, which was delicious, and the thin sliced Wagyu beef served on a gorgeous reduction, with a side of truffle infused baked mashed potato, topped with a porcini cream.
Perhaps the best dish of the day though was the delicious dessert: coconut mousse served with poached pears, caramelised ginger, and lemon sorbet, on top of a macadamia crumble.
We accompanied the desert with a glass of Massolino Moscato di Asti, and honestly, it’s one of the best pairings I have ever tried!
The sweetness of the Moscato with just a hint of acidity matched the dessert perfectly, and the crémeux nature of the wine combined with the coconut mousse to create a match made in heaven!
All this whilst dining in the el fresco section of the restaurant, under an expansive umbrella, looking out over rolling gardens, with a gentle breeze tumbling in, bringing in the wonderful floral aromas from the tropical gardens setting.
Special mention also has to be made to the friendly and attentive service from Susie, as well as the wine waiter / bar man, who’s name I didn’t get (but who used to I think work at Chin Chin?). His service was exceptional, and the espresso he made me at the end of the meal was exemplary.
How often has a fine dining experience been ruined by a lack lustre coffee at the end?
Im pleased to report that was not the case here, as the Campos coffee signature blend hit all the right notes of sweetness combined with balanced acidity, without a hint of bitterness – a perfect way to finish the meal!
A stroll of the gardens after lunch capped the day nicely and I was captivated by the aromas of the stunning floral offerings.
Highly recommend.
Pro tip: do yourself a favour and book accommodation too so you can relax in the pool and roll back to your luxury pad afterwards!
The dishes were beautifully balanced in flavours. The duck and wagyu were the standouts. The goats cheese could have had some crunch or crisp to the texture to lift it but that was really the only room for improvement.
Service was very efficient and our main server was very friendly. I would have preferred to be looked after by one person though. Our food was served by four different people which at this level is not ideal.
The restaurant was beautifully fitted out, the dining room in particular felt cosy.
Toilets were average. Would be nice if they were fitted out to the same standard as time rest of the property
The vibe was cozy and private, which we really enjoyed, but the pacing was painfully slow and the food simply didn’t live up to expectations. Here’s how our courses fared:
• Lemon, lime & bitters: 10/10 (delicious)
• Caviar: 6/10 (good flavors but poorly portioned—too much blini, not enough caviar)
• Cheese soufflé: 3/10 (forgettable)
• Goat cheese & beets: 9.5/10 (excellent)
• Venison tartare: 3/10 (chewy and unremarkable)
• Market fish: 8.5/10 (nicely cooked, good flavors)
• Wagyu rump cap: 4/10 (cook was uneven and not worth the price + upcharge)
• House salad: 2/10 (very basic)
• Burnt honey cream: 0/10 (shockingly bad—I still can’t believe we paid for it)
It’s possible we caught the kitchen on an off night, but with this price point, consistency matters. Rob did his best, though I wish we’d seen him more often given the extensive waits between courses.
In short: lovely atmosphere and excellent service from Rob, but the food was very underwhelming.

The children were not served with anything better either – they took the order for spaghetti, but after a long wait, we were told they had run out of spaghetti so it was going to be Fettuccini. That came mixed with a sweet jam, t(he same used in our glorious Pilaf), with a generous seasoning of pepper for a 2 year and a 6 year old. The children too were made to wait for well over an hour and were nearly asleep by the time food was served to them.
The service was abominable. The waitress was a pretentious conceited person. It took exactly about 3 hrs, from 7Pm to 10Pm to deliver this awful dinner.
Overall, a terrible evening that ruined our important occasion.
I mistakenly forgot to mention my dietary restriction regarding raw food due to being in my third trimester of pregnancy. However, the staff handled the situation with utmost professionalism and care. They quickly swapped out my dish without any hassle, ensuring both my safety and satisfaction.
A special shoutout to Michael, our server, whose attentiveness and expertise made our evening truly memorable. Additionally, kudos to the kind lady who effortlessly accommodated our request. Their exceptional service made our dining experience stress-free and enjoyable.
Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Long Apron and will definitely be returning in the future. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious food and impeccable service!
The food was average at best given the price point.
The venison tartare was chewey and gristly however the Duck Rillettes were very nice.
Lamb was reasonably good but nothing special and the same applies to the Pork Roulade.
The blonde chocolate tart looked like something bought from a cake shop and just put on plate whilst the cheese platter ( which was an addition $10) was essentially a load of crackers with with 3 tiny pieces of cheese and some dried fruit.
We had small bottle of wine which was hugely overpriced ( $55 for 375ml which retails at $19) as my wife was driving. I then had a second glass which looked more like a tasting pour and wasn’t even served in a proper red wine glass.
We mentioned on booking that this was an anniversary meal , and we also confirmed this when we were asked as we arrived. No special treatment or mention of it again throughout our meal.
The atmosphere in the dining room was non-existent and it felt a chore for our server to wait on us.
He spilt water on the table whilst topping up our glasses and did not return to wipe it up.
I don’t mind paying top dollar for food and wine experiences when they are worth it but unfortunately The Long Apron was not.
Hopefully they were just having an off night.
