The menu is loaded with so many seafood options, the majority of which are done in the traditional style (broiled, baked, fried) and all of it was appetizing when reading the descriptions in the menu. Everything we got was great! Everyone loved their dishes. It was plated beautifully and was obviously made using very fresh seafood and other ingredients.
We loved the food so much that we’ll most definitely return for a date night and for future special dinners. I hope they continue to be successful and stay around another 84 years!
The Log Cabin used to be one of my favorite restaurants in Virginia. I’ve always loved the cozy, romantic atmosphere — the warm glow of string lights and the fireplace make it feel intimate and special. That’s why my husband made reservations for February 13th to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
Unfortunately, the evening did not live up to our past experiences.
When we arrived about 10 minutes early for our reservation, the welcome felt cold and uninviting, as though we were inconveniencing the staff. It was not the warm reception we expected for a special occasion.
Our waitress, however, was very kind and accommodating. We asked if we could move closer to the fireplace, and she
graciously seated us at a table right in front of it. The dining room looked beautiful, and for a moment, it felt like the perfect evening. The Pineapple Martini cocktail was excellent, and the hot bread was delicious.
Sadly, the meal quickly went downhill from there.
The house salad consisted of tough, hard-to-chew lettuce with only a few pieces of cucumber. The mushroom appetizer was undercooked. I ordered the broiled scallops, and they were incredibly disappointing — pale, flavorless, and more like they had been boiled than broiled. My husband ordered the New York strip special, which was tough and lacked seasoning.
Our bill was $231 before tip. We understand the pricing and are willing to pay for a quality dining experience, but it’s frustrating to spend that amount when the food is so underwhelming.
No one came by to ask how our meal was, and while our waitress was pleasant, she never checked in about the food. We chose not to complain in the moment because she was kind and we didn’t want to put her in an uncomfortable position.
It’s disappointing to say that what was once one of our favorite restaurants no longer feels the same. What happened? Sadly, this may be the end of the chapter for us at The Log Cabin
Finally we got the chance to visit the place on a Saturday, afternoon, usually buzzing time for a restaurant. But we where the only once there for the entire tiem our dinner lasted.
Place has a unique ambiance of a cozy log cabin that has been forgotten. Service was wonderful no complains there.
Unfortunately the food wasn’t what we expected for the $$$. I dont want to bash the restaurant, but I can say I had better food in a fast food place. As of now it is one of the not to go back places on our list. But maybe in a few monts will visit again. Maybe it was just a bad day for the cook, will give it another chance, but not yet.
