I love a sandwich and fresh house made bread. Their sandwich’s are good and smell good and they seem to have a good reputation. However, the first time I visited I asked to build my own sandwich and was met with some frustration from the staff from not choosing a sandwich they had on the menu. I get it, you make great speciality sandwiches, and probably put a lot of love and effort into those sandwiches, however sometimes when I am on my cycle or my chronic illness is flaring up I cannot eat certain flavors. A relatively plain go-to sandwich is all I can keep down. I tried to give them another chance and called in an order and did the same thing, wanted to build my own sandwich and the staff member was again irritated with me wanting to do that. I wanted to come back and try their house sandwiches but I probably won’t be coming back because I was made to feel weird about wanting a sandwich, that I’m paying for, with certain ingredients. I think the staff should be more considerate of not knowing peoples lives or struggles and recognizing that people have eating struggles and not make them bad or feel weird about wanting to build their own sandwich. It felt like they took it very personal and instead of putting the same love and intention into my sandwich, they just slapped it together. Here’s a pic of my very sad vegan BYO sandwich. It tasted good, but was mostly bread and avocado. I hope one day to have the courage to try their specialty sandwiches and fall in love but not sure if or when that would happen.

An excellent sandwich place in Petaluma. When we reached about half an hour before closing, they were out of some bread options, but we still loved our sandwiches. They were very accommodating to our requests. Would definitely stop here for delicious sandwiches in the future.

Such a great local spot in Petaluma! Everything tastes super fresh and locally sourced, and the new space has an awesome, relaxed vibe with tons of seating inside and out. I’m still craving that chili lime aioli — I’d go back just for that! The house-made Dutch crunch was top-notch too.

This is hands down the BEST sandwich shop in Sonoma county, so happy they are here in Petaluma! I just had a sandwich from here a day ago and could not stop thinking about it so I had to come back for lunch today! The Adobe is my absolute favorite – best dutch crunch! This sandwich shop has raised my expectations of what a delicious sandwich should entail. High quality ingredients and wonderful staff 🙂

This is such a great local spot! My friend and I found this amazing sandwich shop on our way to Sonoma and we were delighted by the quality, selection, and service we received! What an awesome place. We highly recommend the veggie sandwiches! We got a few and couldn’t pick a favorite! Also, the bread is too quality!

We love The Local! Chris and Raul’s talent and creativity is representative in every dish they create. I am always greeted with a calm and friendly demeanor and truly love the atmosphere they have created. I have tried several dishes on their menu and have honestly enjoyed every one of them. My six year old twins absolutely love their “power up” smoothie and the “Redwoods” sandwich. I recently enjoyed the “orange winter salad” and their avocado hummus is absolutely amazing! The Local makes it easy to grab yourself a healthy and fresh meal while on-the-go.

I was out kicking kicking dirt clods with Buck Toothed Benny and Tweezer Dan, and Tweezer blurts out something about sandwiches from The Local. ..What’s this Local place I asked, and he tells me it’s the best damned thing in Petaluma, that is if you’re looking for a sandwich. Then the Tooth chimes in and tells us about the last time he was there..spitting with every single word!
Well, they finally talked about the place long enough to get me to go…So off we went! The sandwiches were Amazing to say the least, but being the best thing in Petaluma, I don’t know about that ..because the Happy Ending Massage Parlour out on B Street is pretty much the best thing in Petaluma for me.
Those sandos from The Local are right up there in the top three though!
