Outstanding customer service.
Comfortable restaurant
Chicken Caesar Wrap – Simply ok. I asked for tomatoes and croutons inside, but it was ignored. $20 definitely pricey
Fries – Fresh and very good
Caesar Salad – Deliciousness. It had a unique touch of additions, which made up for the mediocre wrap. I also added steak. This was the most expensive salad ever at a whopping $29.
When we arrived, we were seated right away, but the host only gave us two menus and said she’d have to find more. Not a big deal, but it took about 5–10 minutes before we got the rest, so we were sharing menus for a bit, which felt a little odd.
Our server was friendly, but not very professional. She never asked if we had been there before (two of the four of us hadn’t), and when I asked about any specials, she first said no, then, yes, but seemed unsure as she described them, with a lot of “I think” moments.
What really surprised me, though, was when my friend mentioned not seeing a specific plate on the menu and noticing a different Executive Chef listed. Our waitress then proceeded to share a lot of behind-the-scenes gossip and rumors, which felt very unprofessional, especially at such a beautiful and cozy restaurant.
On a positive note, the Brussels sprouts were fantastic. However, the crab cake was disappointing, bland, very small, and not worth the $30 price tag. Service was slow throughout the meal, with long waits for refills and the check.
Overall, the atmosphere is lovely, but the service and food didn’t live up to the hype or the price point. I truly wanted to love The Local, but I left feeling disappointed.
Peach basil smash: 10/10 best drink of the night
Feeling spicy: 8/10
Paradise punch: 8/10
Baja bliss: 7/10
White sangria: 4/10 pass
Old fashioned: 8/10
Chargrilled oyster no bacon: 9/10
PEI mussels no sausage: 9/10 loved the tomato. Fra diavola like.
Local wings: 7/10 low count for price but not bad
Chicken sliders: 10/10 the BEST sliders I’ve had.
Our first year was amazing. We ordered the tomahawk for two, and they even cut the steak in front of us, which made the whole experience feel special and worth the price.
Last year on Valentine’s Day, they somehow ran out of the tomahawk steak altogether. On one of the busiest dining nights of the year, that was surprising and disappointing. Still, we gave them another chance.
This year, I called ahead to confirm the tomahawk would be available. When we arrived, we were told they had run out of mashed potatoes. Running out of such a basic side just showed a lack of preparation and consistency.
It’s frustrating because this used to be our go-to spot for a special night. We really wanted to keep supporting this restaurant, but after three years of declining experiences, we’ve decided to take our business elsewhere. Disappointing, because it once felt like a place that truly cared about the experience.
