If you can catch them open they are worth the trip. Although this might strike you as an old time type seafood restaurant, do not be fooled. The recipe is inventive and everything I’ve ever eaten here has been fresh and delicious. The service has always been perfect and they also have a full bar! Call ahead to make sure they can seat you. Closed after labor day!

The Lobster was over cooked, absolutely no liquid came out while breaking apart my lobster. The tail was baked to its shell. Extremely disappointing.

The Lobster House offers a changing menu with a variety of appetizers, entrees and sides. We’ve been several times and have always enjoyed our meals. This time I ordered the fish tacos and they were great, with just the right amount of spice. I also had a small dinner salad that had a nice selection of greens and vegetables. There were several choices of seafood entrees that I would have been happy with. For dessert I had the blueberry bread pudding, which had a nice touch of cinnamon and homemade whipped cream. Reservations are recommended here.

Our families experience was wonderful. Everyone was very friendly. Accommodating to gluten-free needs. And overall kind.

My husband and I had a very nice time at the Lobster House. Service was on point with food specials ( catch of the day), drinks, dessert, and attentive. The bartender was fun and personable. And the food was delicious and done well. We ordered fish tacos, which were big and filled to the gills, and shaved prime rib sliders, onions perfectly caramelized and meat tender. We pushed ourselves to eat up the cobbler but it was worth it. An enjoyable night to be sure.

I’d be embarrassed to serve this food. Clam chowder was cold. literally had two clams and the potatoes were hard. The kids pasta was noodles and no joke tomato paste. Clearly they cater to tourists that don’t have any idea what clam chowder should taste like and have money to blow on a very sub-par meal. Definitely will never be back.

First let me say, we really want this place to succeed. We vacation near Popham Beach every year, and every year there are fewer and fewer local places to eat. We were really excited to get there this summer to find Lobster House reopened after being closed for several years. To succeed though, these folks need to change a few things up a bit.
The good: the decor, the view (!), staff was friendly, the menu is presented in a unique way on a blackboard that is brought to your table (good for keeping costs down, no reprinting of menus every day to accommodate specials), lobster stew broth was delicious, decent wine, beer and cocktail options.
The not so good: the beer, cider and wine we had were not nearly cold enough, the entire restaurant was too warm, while the lobster stew broth was delicious it had almost no lobster in it (half a claw), a menu item described as Stuffed Haddock was literally a piece of fish covered in tons of breadcrumbs (a huge disappointment when you’re expecting “stuffed” to mean seafood, or really anything else to compliment the fish),
In general, the food was just okay but has potential to be really solid. They’ve got to do something about refrigeration – barely cold beer and wine won’t cut it. And make the restaurant just a touch cooler, please.
We didn’t sit at the bar but I walked past it to the restroom, and it looked like a nice cozy spot to enjoy a drink (if it were cold) with locals hanging out. Looked like fun.
Looking forward to next summer and hopefully seeing some improvements. Good luck, please succeed!! Phippsburg needs you!!

Very disappointing return of The Lobster House. Having been in years past with good experiences, this was a “no return” visit. We first waited over 15 min to even be acknowledged by the waitstaff and only after inquiring with the front of house, all while watching the table next to us promptly get their order in free entering after us). The menu is currently limited. We ordered a pizza and 2 orders of fish tacos. To our surprise the $18 pizza was only 10”!!! A personal pizza, to be exact (and our non-picky kids didn’t even like it!). We only received 1 order of fish tacos and after waiting to be served and then the wait on the food, we didn’t bother to ask for another order. We understand they were grossly understaffed, so perhaps delay re-opening? We also suggested that they let others know the size of the pizza (we assumed for the price it was a “full size”-our mistake to assume). Also, drink refills are not free. Really frustrating to pay so much for so little, not to mention the poor service.
