The fried catfish is exceptional. Super crispy and a burst of flavor with each bite. I try to eat here every time I come to Starkville

Very nice place to enjoy some bbq. Came to see the Tennessee vs Mississippi state football game and was encouraged to enjoy a pregame meal here. It’s a very traditional old school bbq joint. The owner was very friendly to us from Tennessee.

Probably not a popular opinion but the bbq here was pretty average in my opinion. I didn’t get to try the brisket as that had sold out right when I was ordering. I did get ribs, pulled pork, and fried catfish. Ribs were the best of the bbq but I’ve had way better several other places (not local). Pulled pork was dry. The catfish tho was fantastic. Nice big filet. Perfectly fried and extra crispy how i like it. The batter had a nice season that have it a good flavor. Really like the catfish. Bbq not the best but also not bad at all. Sides were also pretty average, at least the ones I tried. Mac and cheese, cole slaw and beans. Love the atmosphere and staff was friendly. Great place to hangout.

We tried this place out and it was good but not something I would return too often. The atmosphere was great, decorated with different signs, pictures and some booth and table areas. Service was good. You walk in, order, pay and sit somewhere with your number. Please note, you have to pay 15 cents for a cup to get water. The shredded pork was good, the sides of cheese grits and baked beans were even better. The catfish and shrimp plate was great with hush puppies, coleslaw and potato salad. The quarter of chicken was okay but a little dry (even the dark meat) and had a little too much of liquid smoke. The waffle fries and corn on the cob were just your regular sides. The turnip greens were delicious! Maybe look at some of the food presentation, which is visible on the pictures, so it doesn’t look like you got very much. Again, chicken needs less liquid smoke and less cooking time. Maybe put some seasoning in the water that the corn is being cooked. Otherwise everything else was good.

I recently visited The Little Dooey and had mixed feelings about the experience. The brisket was unfortunately quite dry, which was disappointing. The burger was just average, not something I would go out of my way for. On the positive side, the service was good, and the staff were attentive and friendly. Because of the good service, I’m giving it 3 stars. There’s room for improvement in the food quality, but the service definitely stands out.

Recommend to us buy locals. Overall not a place I’d recommend. Off the bat the pulled pork was dry and had to be smothered in sauce to get it down. The Mac and Cheese tasted like it was made from a pouch. We sat outside and the volume for the speakers was loud for no real reason as it’s off a normal street. On top of that the bathroom doors were propped open and either the smell was coming from there or the drain was clogged, but where you get your beverages had a fowl order, making that unpleasant. Only place that was great about this place was the young lady who took our order, extremely polite.

This place is a Starkville must!
Cheese grits are seriously on point! (Yes, I started with cheese grits at a BBQ place, don’t hate and order some) 🙂
The pulled pork had great smoke! Sauce is a little less than perfect and the drinks area was in need of service.
If you wanna go full “Bully,” either the Triple Threat or the Dooey Nachos are the way. Keep in mind, the Triple Threat offers crispy smoked bacon and smoked bologna with the pulled pork, so prepare to unbuckle!! Forks Up, America – we miss ya Buffett!

The food was decent. I have had better bbq at other places. Catfish was the best thing I had. They need to get their drinks fixed though. They were out of many of the sodas. The sweet tea was not sweet at all. The service was good. The bbq nachos were good and the menu was great.

It’s a kinda cool looking place but the food is definitely less than mediocre. The ribs were way over cooked and dry. The onion rings were also so overcooked they were like eating dry wood. The brisket was passible but a bit too dry for my taste. It was 6:30pm when I got there so I sure didn’t expect to be served end of the night food. I’ve had better BBQ in SO many places both North and South. This was supremely disappointing. The college students running the place couldn’t have cared less about the customer. I shouldn’t blame them as management seemed to be nonexistent too. Maybe they just stopped caring. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Definitely not the same. Use to be the best barbecue in town, but it was a complete disappointment. Guess they don’t believe in seasoning anymore. Ribs were tough and VERY bland, even the 7 year old said the chicken tasted like nothing. Definitely not worth the extremely high prices there
