I finally got around to getting over to the literary and I was not disappointed. The space is small and busy, so I appreciated their signs that requested no working/studying during their busy hours. The food was absolutely amazing on all fronts. Highly recommend the poutine. Where you get a table definitely impacts your experience and we were lucky enough to get one by a window. I will definitely be back!!!

I FINALLY got to try an item off the brunch menu at the super cool The Literary. It’s a hot spot where our local WCIA Meteorologist and his wife like to visit often. Sometimes it’s simply called The Lit. Heard of it?
.
I took my friend to a belated birthday brunch outing in July. My friend needs an accessible entrance as well as accessible seating. The Lit has both. I found the perfect table for us inside!

Marcia had the Burrata Peach Caprese and Peach Blossom Iced Tea. And I settled for the Avocado Toast and the Pistachi-goat Shaken Espresso. We absolutely loved our meals! If you like books, cocktails and delicious unique food options, this gem is worth the drive, ya’ll. They offer dishes for those who have some dietery restrictions. They have a Facebook page. Check it out!

The family really enjoyed our brunch. The vegan options were plentiful, enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and tofu scramble. The hash browns coming with both were delicious. The service was speedy, but everything felt very chill. Definitely coming back soon, you should too!

This is just a 10 star spot. They’ve got an awesome selection of books for their available space. The staff definitely knows what’s going on in the literary world. They’ve got new releases, classics, BookTok hits, YA series, picture books, and literally everything in between. I particularly loved the local authors section!
The staff is so friendly and helpful. I ordered a book online thru their website and picked up in store with zero fuss.
They have events almost every night from book clubs to local experts to trivia. We attended their last Bedazzle a Book night and it was SO much fun. Everything was ready and waiting. Our meals and drinks were awesome. Staff was so friendly and helpful. It just made a perfect night out for our neighborhood moms and friends.
This spot is an absolute gem, whether you’re an avid reader or just someone who is looking for a delicious dinner and drink. Definitely add The Lit to your list!!

While my NYC bagel dish was good, we both got food poisoning from the tomato soup and grilled cheese dish. I’m assuming the cheese was bad because it was disgusting. This place needs better standards, it’s disappointing because this would otherwise be a cute cafe.

Came in for Dads Weekend this morning and everything was fantastic. Food tasted fresh and came out hot, lots of flavor! Very worth the 45min wait for our food (which they kindly informed us of before we ordered)
Staff were a well oiled machine and very helpful even though there was a line all the way back to the couches. You can tell they like working there. Will be back in the future.

The vegan breakfast options are incredible here! They were the top-rated restaurant in the Champaign Vegan Chef Challenge for a reason. I loved the tofu scramble and pumpkin pancakes I had.

Beautiful bookstore, AMAZING employees! I was visiting Champaign, and as I always do I attempt to find a local bookstore or a coffee shop! I came across The Literary where I was able to enjoy and iced latte and start reading one of my new books I purchased there! As soon as I walked in the door there was a display of books inspired by black history month. A good amount of books written by black authors or about slavery or civil rights, etc. I immediately chose two books to purchase, then ended up with 2 of the same book to give my mom! The employees were all super sweet even when they were jammed packed! Definitely made a lasting impression. When I come back to visit I will be going there again!!!!!!!!!!

This coffee shop with a bookstore is absolutely amazing! The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with beautiful colors and cute modern decorations. While the book selection isn’t huge, it offers a great variety of key books reflecting current trends, perfect for browsing and finding something new.
I was particularly impressed by the shop’s apparel and other items featuring the shop logo. They felt very authentic and were made from high-quality materials.
Though the shop can get a bit crowded, there’s still plenty of space to relax and enjoy your time. We ordered the absolute must-try drink: the London Fog. This delightful concoction of Earl Grey tea with hints of vanilla and lavender, topped with milk, is pure love in a cup! It was incredibly tasty, and I highly recommend it. I only wish they had larger size options for drinks!! We highly appreciate the good quality and style of the to go coffee cup.
The restrooms were spotless, and I appreciated that the women’s restroom was stocked with tampons and sanitary pads.
The staff were friendly and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable.
Whether you’re here for a drink with a partner, family, or friends, this is a fantastic place to unwind and enjoy a great atmosphere. Highly recommended!

I hosted my bridal shower at The Lit and it was truly a wonderful experience! Planning from Chicago could have been stressful, but Dylan made everything so seamless. He was incredibly responsive, accommodating, and genuinely thoughtful throughout the entire process. One of the most memorable touches was when he played the Bridgerton soundtrack over the speakers—such a sweet surprise that added a magical, personal touch. The space was beautiful and the atmosphere felt so special. Highly recommend The Lit for any celebration!
