Probably the best curry I have had in a while. The restaurant was buzzing as it was 23rd Dec. No reservation made and they accommodated me with a table for one. Complimentary poppadom with onions, lime pickle & chutney on arrival. Service was swift but not in your face. I had a lamb lajawab with garlic pilau which was absolutely fabulous. Reasonably priced too. Will definitely be back.

We went for my mother in law’s birthday. Restaurant was extremely busy which was great to see. We’ve been coming to the Jewel and the Crown on and off for years. The manager is such a nice guy and is clearly doing a very good job, as his staff are very friendly and attentive. Food and service was amazing. Atmosphere great too. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely first class meal. Cannot fault it whatsoever. I had the chicken bhuna with basmati rice, plain naan, chips and lager. Excellent quality food. Poppadoms were appreciated with dips. Toilets clean, friendly staff, great atmosphere, reasonable price. Food delicious

One of the best restaurants we’ve ever been to. Very friendly staff, excellent atmosphere, fast service, reasonable prices and incredible food. Seated almost immediately and then we were welcomed by a delicious starter. Didn’t have to wait long for the main meal either which was of very high quality. The waiter was very helpful when sharing his professional opinion on the meals, and helped give recommendations. When we were finished with our meals, we were given oranges, chocolates and freshly steamed towels. Pricing was adequate. Thank you very much. We will certainly be coming back.

We have been visiting Jewel in the Crown for years and are never disappointed. A varied menu with something for everyone (they have vegetarian and plant-based options). They also have Kingfisher beer on tap (which I find is rare in Aberdeen). The staff are friendly and very attentive. One of the best Asian Subcontinent restaurants you will find. There is some parking around the back, but for anyone on foot, it is not too far a walk from Union Street.

This place is very nice although on the expensive side. But it’s fancy. They started well, the food was good. Then came the ripoff. I ordered very spicy vindaloo prawns. They brought me a dish with very small, and clearly just out of the freezer, shrimps. You know the ones you get in a bag at the supermarket, £5 a pound because they’re too small and even your dog refuses to eat them. I protested, I wanted my prawns. So the apologised and redo my dish, this time with KING prawns, explaining that for them the small shrimps were considered prawns. Clowns and crooks. They brought me a new dish with 4 (four) “king” prawns and it was good. Then it came the theft. The price of the dish leavened from 19 to 26 pounds. Making it the most expensive dish in the whole restaurant and probably top three in Aberdeen. I am a gentleman and I didn’t have the time and energies to discuss such obscenity so I pulled a grin while they were stabbing me in the back. Needless to say it was the most utterly disappointing experience. Don’t come here. Never. Shame on you.

Amazing food. Literally the best paratha I’ve ever had. Accommodating with their portions of rice for a lone diner. Place was packed on a Thursday night- always a good sign. Great service. Super friendly and prompt. Had white wine by the glass – only two choices Sauv Blanc and Chardonnay.

We managed to get a table in the corner as we didn’t have booking. The service was very good. Onion bhaji was tasty although not crispy. The naans were pretty big. The bhendi masala and veg navarathan sabji were delicious. The murgh balti was just enough spice to my liking. Warm towel and orange quarters were a good touch at the end.

I’ve been coming here with my family for 25 years and we love it. The food is always incredible, the service second-to-none and there’s always a good ambience. A true Aberdeen institution.
