This was an excellent suggestion. The food was great beginning with carrot cake muffins. Unique offering and so delicious.
The menu has plenty of variety as well as daily specials. You can choose between sandwiches, quiche, salads, fruit, vegetables, lunch plates and other assorted items.
Service is very efficient. My glass was never emptied.
A very highly recommended place for a meal.
The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with rustic décor that pays homage to the town’s history while still feeling fresh and welcoming. It’s the kind of place where the clinking of glasses, laughter, and the smell of something wonderful coming from the kitchen all blend together into a memorable dining experience.
But let’s talk about the food—because that’s where The Iron Rail truly shines. Every dish feels thoughtfully crafted and cooked to perfection. The aged pork chop is an absolute standout: tender, juicy, and packed with rich, smoky flavor that pairs beautifully with its sides. It’s the kind of entrée that makes you stop after the first bite just to appreciate how good it is.
And whatever you do, don’t skip dessert. The brownie is pure indulgence—warm, decadent, and served with just the right touch of sweetness. It’s the perfect way to end a meal that already feels special from start to finish.
Between the outstanding food, charming atmosphere, and heartfelt service, The Iron Rail is a must-visit in Bolingbroke. Whether you’re passing through or looking for your new favorite local spot, this restaurant delivers on every level.
Service: AWESOME! Our server was a young man named Nick, and he was charismatic and very attentive to our requests. The chef has MAGIC HANDS! He came out and greeted the guests, he was kind enough to give us complimentary CARROT MUFFINS! They were delicious! The chef cooks like he grew up in the Deep South, he uses smoked turkey to season the collard greens…OMG! Come to find out, he came to us from Guys Grocery Games, he has some serious cooking credentials.
Atmosphere: Gorgeous, and very clean. It feels like you’re dining in your grandma’s kitchen. Very warm and friendly, it touches the soul.
I am definitely going back!
