Nice and quaint atmosphere. Chris was our server, he was helpful and polite. The appetizer came out fast, The nachos wasn’t that great, plenty of chips and not much meat. The food is good if they cook it to your liking. I ask for a med rare, got a well done burger and the habachi was over cooked. I ask for the broccoli to be removed and I still got broccoli. The serving are huge served on a 18 inch plate. I will visit again to see if they can get that other star but overall 3.5 stars.

Ordered takeout here once, the burgers were unbelievable — massive, fresh, amazingly seasoned, juicy! Went in person today for something a little fancier. Caesar side salad was delightful with fresh croutons. Buffalo chicken pasta was full of flavor and just enough spice, with grilled chicken goodness.

Went here yesterday for date night. The food is so so so good. The steak was delicious! The wait staff and music were very pleasant. I want to give it 5 stars because the food and staff definitely deserves it. But, I’ll order it out next time because their phone was ringing off the hook even louder than the music and it ruined the date night vibe and I like a glass of wine with my steak dinner and I don’t think this place has their liquor license (all they offer is sodas). So, if I took it home I could have the glass of wine and wouldn’t be disturbed by a super loud phone.

My husband and I recently decided to try The Iron Lantern. The prices were higher than I typically like to pay, but the food descriptions sounded great, and I’d heard several glowing reviews.

Oh, boy, was it good! The service was fast and friendly, the food was delicious, the portions were generous, and the prices were reasonable in relation to the amount of food given.

We started with their loaded cheese fries appetizer and chose the Carolina BBQ pork option. The meat was “piled atop hand cut french fries with bacon jam, caramelized onions, two cheese blend and our made from scratch sharp cheddar cheese sauce.” House made chipotle ranch dressing was served on the side.

I was a bit dubious about both the Carolina BBQ topping and the bacon jam. I’m not a big fan of Eastern NC BBQ, and I couldn’t imagine bacon jam. Paired with the various cheeses and other ingredients, they created an explosion of complementary flavors that had me hooked from the first taste.

For my meal, I selected chicken and vegetables in a traditional hibachi sauce with fried rice. I opted to try both the ginger sauce and the yumyum sauce available on the side. The hibachi chicken and vegetables were cooked well and had lovely flavor from the hibachi sauce. The fried rice didn’t have any eggs or vegetables, but it tasted great anyway. I enjoyed how the ginger sauce paired with the vegetables, but I absolutely loved the chicken dipped in the yumyum sauce.

My husband really enjoys hot (spicy) food and also selected hibachi shrimp and vegetables. He chose the Volcano sauce and had fried rice as his side. He also requested both ginger and yumyum sauces on the side. He was very pleased with the volcano sauce and had me try a bit. You could feel the warmth spreading inside your mouth after the first bite, and although it instantly gave me heartburn, he happily declared the shrimp the best he’d had in a very long time. When we returned home about an hour after eating, he was inordinately pleased to announce that his lips were still numb.

I mentioned that the portions were generous. I ate only half of my food and saved the rest for today’s lunch. Even so, I ate more than I should have last night and felt a bit uncomfortable.

My kids wanted a taste of my leftovers, and now they all want to go eat at The Iron Lantern. If that doesn’t tell you that the food is GOOD, you don’t understand how picky kids can be.

Food was delicious. Service was great. Ginger took good care of us. I had the Buffalo Chicken Pasta (Hot and Spicy). Pam had the Bourbon Glazed Salmon. They were out of a few things. We will go back to try some other dishes. Looking forward to trying the Bang Bang Shrimp.

I frequently find it hard to find a place that has both amazing service and amazing food but this place was great on both counts. We came in right after opening so we had the place to ourselves. We had our daughter with us and they played Disney music on the speakers which was really fun. I ordered the Volcano Burger with no tomatoes and a side salad. The server was very sweet and left out the tomatoes from my salad since I had asked for none on my burger. The burger was really good and had just the right amount of kick to it. The burger was so flavorful that you could still taste it underneath the flavors of the toppings, which I love. Everyone’s food came out hot and fresh, big portions, and tasted great. The fresh lemonade was also really good and worth a try We will definitely be coming back next time we stop here in town.

Food was awesome and service was great. We weren’t sure what to expect considering it’s a Friday night on 4th of July weekend. The cheese curds were so good! My husband had pasta and I had hibachi chicken. Highly recommend.

I truly enjoyed this newly opened family style, unique gourmet casual fine dining restaurant…what a mouthful… but they are good and have allot of variety…covering most taste and ages…. I enjoyed the Beef Marcotte and it was down right and unexpectedly good… They also have a delightful selections of scratch made hamburgers to seafood…. I highly recommend a taste… Prices looks like averages between $10 to $25 per person …. But all fresh and satisfying…enjoy….

I can’t give it 5 stars yet, but my wife and I really enjoyed this dining experience. As the Iron Lantern is still in it’s infancy, there are still some items to address. But overall… I have really high hopes for this cozy little nook.
The food…. First, let me say that I ordered a menu item to take home for later (just because it sounded so good… BBQ’d pulled-pork nachos; still looking forward to these). But onward to our meal. To start… my side salad. Mixed greens, a bit of tomato, and some red onion. No thousand island? No cheese??? But the bleu cheese dressing more than compensated. Truly, I think this is the best Bleu Cheese dressing I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. Even my wife (who NEVER orders bleu cheese) enjoyed it. … So she orders a burger. With all the amazing choices… Why??? Nonetheless, I think it was delicious. The bacon alone would’ve been amazing with a couple of over easy eggs… lean and done just right. Now… Are you ready for this?? Crab-stuffed manicotti… wonderful crab blend stuffed within two large perfectly ‘al dente’ manicotti tubes… bathed in a creamy tomato bisque… blanketed in a ‘just right’ ration of cheeses. Really quite amazing.
The atmosphere…. Again, as this is a recent startup, some work needs to be done in the ambiance arena. Currently, there is no personality or decor. This should be easy an easy fix. It was a bit cold in the restaurant (understandably, I think). But I do hope they’ll address this concern to match the coziness the name implies.
Summary: Great food, fair pricing (given today’s market), friendly staff. Looking forward to my next visit. In closing, I really enjoyed the relaxing music selection of 70’s and 80’s (put together by one of the staffers… Thanks C).

I had the Buffalo chicken sandwich, was huge and very good. The fries were even better. These were the best French fries I have ever had . We will be going here more often.
