I have been a few times. The burgers are very good, well seasoned and very fresh. The pork tenderloin is fantastic! they are fresh cut made to order! delicious cut of meat and nice breading! We are lucky as a town to have a new restaurant this good!

In town at the Winnebago Service Center and decided to walk into town to eat lunch. Had the Pork Tenderloin combo meal which is advertised as being an awesome tenderloin and we were not disappointed. It really is good with a great breading on it. It reminded me of a cracker crumb breading that my mom used to use. Nice inside and very clean. I highly recommend stopping at the Iowan if you are ever in the area of Forest City and looking for somewhere to grab a bite to eat!

Called in to just order chicken today as I love their chicken. In the past I did not like their coleslaw as it was tasteless and dry. The person that took my order told me that the coleslaw is new with a creamy sauce in it. I decided to go with the meal. It was very good. Starla Vega

Fresh food, nothing is frozen! Fresh cut french fries! They cut and tenderize the tenderloins there. They also bread the tenderloins and chicken sandwiches there! The hamburger patties are made there (fresh) and taste so good! And you actually get a good size burger, quarter pound, half pound, or three quarter pound! Some of the food takes a few minutes to make, but it is definitely worth it!

This was our first visit to the Iowan. This is an objective review from our only visit. First of all the restaurant was clean on the inside unlike when it was a Hardee’s and I did not have to wait 10 minutes for someone to take my order like Hardee’s of the past. We ordered a burger with fries and a chicken club sandwich. The club sandwich was OK but it did taste like it was something that was out of a box and heated up. The burger was good but not awesome. The fries were very good by the way. Our opinion was that the food was average but could have been so much better. They have a ways to go before the burgers are anywhere nearly as good as those at Sally’s or the new Hyvee.
Next up is our review of the service. You walk in and they take your order and give you a number and tell you that they will call your number when the order is ready. That is ok but in my personal opinion I think they should give you a number like McDonald’s and Hyvee does and bring the food to the table. It is simply good customer service. It would also be nice if someone would come to the table and ask how everything was.
We visited around 4:30pm on a Wednesday and the restaurant was nearly empty. I truly hope this business is successful. I have heard the pork tenderloin is very good however we did not try it on this trip. The bottom line for this review is the food and service was average but could have been so much better.

Food is ok ordered a burger a while back and it was ok not great. The fries are made in shop but honestly in my opinion they were under cooked. Today I went in and ordered a tenderloin and cheese curds. The tenderloin was good may go back for one some day. The curds on the other hand we’re horrible. So greasy I tasted oil more then anything. Also the put them in a fry container and the cheese clumped them all together and stuck to the Bottom of the container. Good for college kids but that’s about it.

Got the tenderloin, cole slaw, fries, and mashed potatoes. Waited 15 minutes for the food and it was only luke warm. Tenderloin 5 out of 10 (kinda small for a tenderloin, nothing special just a normal breaded loin) Slaw 2 out of 10 (dry and no flavor just shredded cabbage) fries 5 out of 10 normal fries. Mashed potatoes 6 out of 10 (nice and creamy and pretty good chicken gravy). Overall not a bad place. Nice staff and very clean.

The burgers were great (we got a double each) mine was a mushroom swiss, fresh mushrooms and creamy american/swiss type cheese. My husband’s was a cheeseburger and was good with lettuce, tomatoes, onion and pickles and although it was all very fresh the slice of tomato was about the size of a quarter. My review would have been five stars but the shakes were awful, more of an icy shake and not made with real ice cream… not quite what I was expecting. We will return to try other menu items. Staff was nice and helpful. Dining room very clean.

I regret going. The cheese curds on the electronic menu look great, the ones I got were unrecognizable as cheese curds and not even crisp. Nothing but a bunch of grease. Fries were ok but mostly tiny little pieces. I’ll be sticking to A&W or the bowling alley if I want decent fried food in Forest City.
