We had a wonderful experience at The India Palm. I have dietary restrictions due to celiac disease, which means I cannot consume gluten at all. While on a short family break near Dumfries, we were looking for halal and gluten-free options that would be safe for me. We visited the restaurant, and after asking a few questions, our server provided us with all the necessary details and reassured us about which dishes were safe to eat. The food was delicious, and the service was fantastic.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Review for The India Palms, Dumfries
I had an absolutely fantastic meal at The India Palms in Dumfries, and I just had to share how impressed I was. As a vegetarian, it can sometimes be hard to find dishes that feel truly cared for — but everything I ordered here was delicious, fresh, and full of flavour.
The Vegetarian Korma was incredible: rich, creamy, beautifully balanced, and packed with perfectly cooked vegetables. It’s honestly one of the best kormas I’ve had anywhere.
I also tried the Vegetarian Dunsack, and it was outstanding. The sauce had a lovely depth to it, slightly tangy and sweet, with just the right amount of spice. It’s a dish I’ll definitely come back for again and again.
And the Vegetarian Pakora was spot-on — crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and full of flavour without being oily. Absolutely perfect as a starter.
The staff were friendly, welcoming, and genuinely made the experience even better. You can tell they take pride in what they serve, and the service was warm and attentive from start to finish.
Overall, The India Palms is a fantastic spot for anyone, but especially for vegetarians looking for proper, flavourful Indian food. Highly recommended — I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

It was a last minute decision to come in for dinner and I’m glad we did. My husband had the lamb karahi with egg rice, and I had the green chilli korma with coconut rice. The meat in both dishes was amazing, very soft and succulent and the sauces were also extremely tasty. I’d highly recommend!!!

This was the first time we’d eaten here. We were surprised at just how big the restaurant is. It’s well laid out and nicely decorated.
There’s a good selection of vegetarian options. Our meal appeared really quickly after ordering and was enjoyable. The staff were friendly and attentive.
The only thing I would say is that the portions are a bit on the small side. As we’d had a large lunch what we’d ordered was enough for us on this occasion, but probably wouldn’t be another time.

Nice Indian food – good variety of vegetarian and meat options. But even if you ask for “hot” and are promised “hot hot” what you actually get is mild to medium. The chef’s specialty medium is mild. The flavours are good, but the spice level is wimpish.

Came here with my partner and wee one, would highly recommended. Polite, friendly and so welcoming, the staff were great and also included our kid in the conversations.
Food was delicious and promptly served. My partner ordered a particularly spicy dish and they gave him a sample first to test the heat… which was spot on. The little touches made for great customer service 🙂

First time dining here. I must say it’s fantastic. Friendly staff, wonderful food choices, and lovely decor. The seating inside is rather dated. The meal was delicious. Ordered the hottest dish, and it did not disappoint. The flavour was incredible without the chilli overpowering meal. Tasty dessert!

We called in randomly and without booking was offered a front of house window seat, good for us as quieter for the baby. The service was usually fast, starters and mains arriving very very fast.
Chilli masala wasn’t bad, bit bland but the lamb nice and soft and delicious.
