With a passion for creating happy people and our love of coffee, we opened our first drive-thru espresso stand in Ashland Oregon in 1998. The demand for convenient, quality coffee & espresso grew and soon after opening our original location in Ashland, we expanded to surrounding cities in Southern Oregon. The Human Bean quickly established a reputation for having friendly and experienced baristas and offering the highest quality ingredients.

I’m not sure what happened to the stand but the last 3 months I’ve been charged three different prices for the same drink I get all of the time. (Hand blended granita with sugar free vanilla) I’ve had probably 8 drinks in this time frame and all of them have been incredibly runny. Think melted ice latte consistency instead of granita.

The Human Bean is my favorite place to stop when I’m in Lebanon. Every staff member I’ve ever had help me is super nice and friendly to my kiddos too! I always get the Java Chip! Last time, I had my wife with me and she accused me of eating her coffee bean and I was pretty sure it fell through the lid when I put the straw in. Sure enough, when I hit the bottom I handed my cup to her so she could get the bean.

The guy working alone on 2/20/26 around 8 pm was extremely rude. Poor customer service skills. Didn’t say hi or welcome just stared at me until I gave my order. Then when I paid and received my order, I said thank you and he didn’t say anything back , nod, or acknowledge me and walked away. He spoke one words to me- my total amount and even that seemed to pain him. I watched him engage more with the vehicle on the other ordering side across from me and I’m wondering what biasis drive him. He didn’t deserve how friendly I was despite his rudeness and lack of customer service skills.

I showed up on Mother’s day and the place was packed. I was happily surprised that the line moved quickly. The coffee was great and I received a rose for my mom free of charge. I thought that was pretty cool. Most places wouldn’t have done that. Very happy with their business practices. Above and beyond customer satisfaction. Good job human bean!
Update- Picked up a Irish cream Breve and it was delicious. Had a shot of cream demint in it too. They never disappoint!

I typically get the 20oz Carmel mocha with an extra shot and Xtra drizzles and it’s absolutely amazing! I can’t give 5 stars considering I’ve really only had this but i enjoy it enough to make up for the rest lol

This place is a joke. We arrived and tried to place our order but the young girl seemed very confused by a simple order. The person out front was very scatterbrained. Finally, after we thought she had our order correct, we pulled up to the window, and they tried to overcharge us. Then they gave us our drinks and one out of the three were wrong we let them know, and then they exchanged the drink and still gave us the wrong drink, which tasted terrible. This not my first time with bad experience at this place. Also, the people working there are not very friendly.

I love their specialty coffee drinks. My go-to is Chocolate Mac Brevé with whip cream. Hot on cold days and blended on hot days. The staff are so wonderful each time we pull up through the drive thru and it doesn’t matter which location, Albany, Lebanon, or Philomath.
