The Hot Dogger brick n mortar is in the college town of Davis, CA, right in downtown. An estimated 150 square feet of compact coziness where they serve up seven varieties of dogs including an all beef dog, vegan soy, and the award winning spicy mango chicken sausage. The menu also includes wedge fries, chili, potato salad, potato macaroni salad, and homemade lemonade. The dogs and sausages have a natural casing, giving them a satisfying snap. Quality. Steamed and served on fresh baked buns from the local bakery down the street.
The folks that work here are down right awesome. Yes, over the many years (~30 years)that I have been a customer, various staff have come n gone. But all having a welcoming personable attitude. Just the hotdogger way.
There is no seating indoors, only outdoor. There are tables, outside on the sidewalk, under big beautiful trees that give off ample shade in the summer. Great place to sit, enjoy the food, and soak in the Davis college town’s downtown vibes.

Our server Jeremiah was fantastic. Whatever he gets paid needs to be more. Store is run by one person being a superstar. He was super nice and accommodating to my special modifications on my dogggggg. The dogs we ordered were more than what we expected from a hot dog. the price is worth the fancy hot dog. The fresh lemonade was fantastic, I would go back just for this drink. There is limited seating outside and the ordering station is very small. The store itself can hold 1-3 customers before feeling cramped and overcrowded.

The “fine print”… this is a one-guy walk-in ‘shack’ operation; no in-door seating with a few sidewalk tables. But it’s exactly what I was wanting on my quest for a descent dog. The marquee says it all… “It’s your weiner, do what you want with it.”
PS… the chilli ‘fries’ were outstanding. I’d go back for just that … a 1,906 mile trip for me ;o)

The hotdogs are ok. I’d rather get a $1.50 hotdog at Costco. If I’m going to spend $10+ on a meal, it’s not going to be a mid hotdog. The “chef” is a little rude, with a look that makes it very apparent that you have inconvenienced him by ordering a hot dog. The place is pretty filthy, and the “chef” just handles your food with unwashed hands. I will say that I was not served by the legendary Jeremiah; maybe the experience is completely different when the hot dog master himself is at work.

They make a really good chili dog. It’s a really small spot with outdoor seating. The people are very friendly. The hours were extended recently. The prices are so steep though! I’d come back a lot more if they could get the prices down. It feels like a lot for what you get which is admittedly very good. I always get the fries which are wedge cut with a great seasoning and ranch.

What a pleasure to eat here. Ivan was a treat to speak with and he made my friends and I feel incredibly welcome in our first visit! The hotdogs were perfect to order and they have such a variety that you’ll be coming back to try new flavors of mustard.

To much bun & not enough Dog , fries were delicious. The out door seating & people watching is what made up for the lack of Dog in the Thai dog
