Social Profile:

What’s a Hooley, you ask? Hooley (who-lee) – an informal Irish home kitchen party. Traditionally, a Hooley was a social party that took place at a private residence, often in the kitchen. Everyone brought their favorite dish, their instruments, of course their favorite brew, and they ate, sang, and danced long into the night!

Sports-oriented Irish tavern with familiar pub fare & brews on tap, plus trivia nights & live music.

We have been meaning to try hooleys, and finally did. It did not disappoint us. Delicious food, excellent service and a nice sports bar feel. we enjoyed our food thoroughly and will definitely return.

Question:
How can an Irish Pub NOT get fish and chips right???

Answer:
Ask the great cooks here at Hooley House in Mentor!

A very drab atmosphere in which you really can’t see out any windows. Kinda feels more like a dungeon than a pub, but if they were looking for that 1800’s sorta vibe, they perhaps nailed it!

Back to the Q&A…
It almost seems sacrilegious that an Irish themed restaurant not only serves lunch meat styled corned beef, but almost would be immediately removed from Gordon Ramsay’s kitchen if they were to ever present the fried hockey puck they considered fish sliders. Needless to say, I was thoroughly disappointed. After almost chipping my tooth, I explained the situation to our waitress and she took it off the bill. This was genuinely the reason I came, but since the kitchen was closing soon, I didn’t have the opportunity for them to restore my confidence.

Our waitress, Allison was phenomenal and saved a rather lackluster experience. Would enjoy trying them again just to see if they can get it right, but my teeth are a little reluctant. With good reason!

Have been coming here for a number of years and Hooley is still as good as it’s always been. The Hooley Reuben was toasty and delicious. And tots were crispy as always. First time trying the French onion burger which was delicious as well. Also ordered the lobster bisque (not pictured) off the Lent menu which was pretty good too. Food is definitely some of the best in the area for this type of place. Service was quick and friendly and the atmosphere is great.

Live band 3/7/26, WAY TO LOUD, unbelievable. Service excellent. Food was good but fries were awful. At first I thought I grabbed a thin overcooked one but soon realized they were all thin and dry. Please use differt fries.

Sincere Service
As a woman who came here alone I felt completely safe and comfortable despite what other reviewers stated. It was family oriented and just a chill vibe. Although the french fries were extremely salty the burgers on the other hand were tasty and truly live up to their reputation for having the best burgers around Cleveland! The Hooley Pub in the Brooklyn, OH area is the best one so far because the portion was much greater than this location. Prices were very low which I appreciated !!! Highly recommend this restaurant and the waitress was the sweetest ❤️

Ordered through doordash, shepereds pie was far from sheperds pie, very soggy and just disappointing as vegetables weren’t cooked all the way, just seemed like a swampy mess. Mac n Cheese was okay bottom was crusted, and hard to break apart.

I ordered the stuffed boxty..potato pancake w swiss and corned beef. Corned beef was dry and stringy but flavor was quite good overall. The classic bake which is plain mac n cheese. Again great flavor but tiny portion for 9 dollars. The shining star was the slaw. Best I have had in decades. I have photos and will post as soon as I am able.

Stopped for dinner and drinks after hiking through Penitentiary Glen Reservation. It was not too busy so we were seated immediately. Our server, Laura was very friendly and provided great service. Although there are many selections in the Mentor area, I would recommend the Hooley Pub & Kitchen for great service and reasonable prices for bar menu food and drinks.
