I WISH I DIDN’T HAVE TO GIVE A SINGLE STAR BUT GOOGLE MAKES YOU. We have been long-time customers of HoneyBaked Ham up in NE Ohio, for several years – going back to when my Great Grandmother hosted Thanksgiving and Christmas many moons ago. I have since carried on the tradition for 7 years now. I have NEVER pre-ordered a ham and didn’t get it, except for this year at this location. We are new vacation home owners on Hilton Head Island and we were down there celebrating Thanksgiving with our family – all from out of town. We were on the road for two days prior to Thanksgiving – hence why I ordered Ham, Turkey, and all my sides. I stopped at the store a little before my appointment time (around 1:30) and those who were in line were told they ran out of bone-in hams & to come back around 3. So I went to my condo and unloaded my travel bags and went back up to the store around 4pm (was thirty minutes early). Waited in the long line wrapped around Starbucks for about 20-30 minutes. I watched several customers leave with 2-3 hams each. One lady had 4 hams she was carrying out. When I finally got inside, we were told there are no more bone-in hams available for the rest of the day! HOW ARE YOU OUT OF HAMS WHEN CUSTOMERS IN LINE HAD A PRE-ORDER?!?!?!?!?! THEY SOLD MY HAM THAT I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR AN ORDERED. Our Thanksgiving was ruined because of this store’s poor management. It seems like this has been going on for a while just looking at the reviews.

This has been, without exaggeration, the most unprofessional and incompetent business I have ever dealt with. The store ran out of BOTH ham and turkey the day before Thanksgiving—an unbelievable failure in itself. We were told refunds would be issued, yet two weeks later, I still have nothing.

My first call was pointless. I was told there were no records of any orders and that the owner, Mr. Pete, would call me on Monday. He never did. When I called again today (Wednesday) I was handed a random personal phone number with zero explanation. When I asked who it belonged to or if it was corporate, Ogretta, the “manager” is in the background yelling, “Do you want your money back or not?!”—as if customers are an inconvenience. Completely unacceptable.

Even the day they announced to an entire line of people that they had run out of holiday orders, the staff couldn’t bother to show basic professionalism or an apology. This was the day before Thanksgiving, by the way.

Then, when I called the number they gave me, I was told again they had no record of orders and that I needed to text proof from my bank account and the confirmation email. Ogretta was once again yelling things in the background. When I questioned her attitude, she replied, “You had an attitude first,” then hung up on me. My tone was firm—because I was being given the runaround—not disrespectful. The disrespect came entirely from their side.

The worst part? The person I was told to call, Sharon or Cheryl, was standing in the store the entire time cashing out customers and taking orders. Why would I need to call her personal cell phone when she was right there? That level of disorganization is beyond ridiculous.

I wasn’t even furious about them running out of product—although that alone shows how poorly this place is run. What pushed this over the edge was the absolute circus of misinformation, attitude, and incompetence that followed.

This store needs a completely new team and new leadership, because the way it operates right now is embarrassing and guarantees customers will take their business elsewhere. YOU HAVE ALL BEEN WARNED.

***I will also edit to say Sharon or Cheryl ended up calling me back as I was on the phone with my bank to dispute the charge, and she did refund my card for my prepaid order at that time (10 or so minues later). I will wait a few days to make sure it hits, but at least she tried to smooth things over, unlike Ogretta who was doing nothing but aggravating the situation. The bigger issue here is that the staff is not only unprofessional, but they are not equipped to see previous orders for refunds if needed. If they were, that may have been able to solve the back and forth and frustration.

Rude staff!! My mother grabbed some of their sides out of the fridge and went to check out. The lady at the desk took the sides from her and said “you can’t buy these. They are not for sale. We have to save them for online orders.” Why on earth would they be out in the fridge for anyone to grab if they are only for online sales. Why would they not have a sign on the refrigerator?? I went to the Summerville location and had such a better experience there. Will NOT be back to the bluffton location.

Sold our ham to someone else. Went up twice and stood in a long line to be told our pre ordered and paid for ham was gone. How is that even possible? Came 1300 miles away to celebrate Thanksgiving here and honey baked ham ruined that. Shame on you and your staff. If someone didn’t order a ham you should have had them waiting, not the other way around. People leaving with 2-3 hams… insanity. You should be ashamed.

Reading these reviews disheartens me. All of the wealth in this area and people choose to let a bone in ham ruin Thanksgiving. Get a grip?! If it was that serious, pooler is less than an hour away, drive there on your way in or go get your ham there before you let it “ruin your entire thanksgiving”, my gosh. I hope you all do not have children and if you do, I hope SOMEONE is teaching them the real meaning of the SEASON. ‍↔️

About this location though, I never have issues. Stop in all the time for lunch and have no problems. Also, they MADE my Thanksgiving just by a few turkey slices. All I needed. You all have lost touch of reality, and it shows.

Waited an hour and a half in line just to be told they gave my prepaid ham away and had to spend $80 more if we wanted another ham. I will never do business with these idiots again and I’m contacting corporate about this location.

I recently placed an order with The Honey Baked Company in Bluffton SC(Order #: 305160403) and was saddened to find that the smoked turkey I ordered was not available at pickup. It was disappointing to hear that several other customers who ordered the smoked turkey were also told they had run out.

While the staff was pleasant and courteous, the company needs a better system to ensure preorders are filled. My family was looking forward to our traditional smoked turkey for dinner, and this experience was unacceptable, especially after waiting 10-15 minutes only to be told there were no smoked turkeys available. Then, after agreeing to take the roasted turkey, it took another 15 minutes to receive it.

I hope The Honey Baked Company can improve their order fulfillment process to prevent this from happening in the future.
