Delicious, fresh, clean and friendly! We have been searching for a Mexican Restaurant in Cleveland with quality food and a pleasant clean appearance. We headed out to a Mexican Restaurant we found online, but it was closed this week, and then while driving away and wondering “where do we go now…to the really crowded place, the ones that smell of old grease, the ones with poor service or low health scores..etc.,” …we passed this place. It was perfect! Sarah was a friendly and efficient server and the food was hot and fresh and great quality and quantity. The entrees were served cut in half, so it was easy to share. I had the Fajita Chimichanga and selected the Birria as my meat choice. It was topped with a creamy queso sauce and I also added some of the homemade red hot sauce and green sauce which were both very good. (Red is spicy, but I like that.) My husband had the Fajita Quesadilla. He is very picky with food, but said his quesadilla was perfectly grilled and he liked the way th vegetables had been cut smaller instead of large hunks. The atmosphere was light and music was authentic. They had plenty of clean high chairs and both a breakfast and regular menu for kids. There are also vegetarian options and some authentic Hispanic drink choices. We “stumbled” across this place by accident (it’s on 3rd street behind a tire store and across from the Old Woolen Mill) but we will return.

El Don Brunch & Dinner in Cleveland may be small in size, but it is huge in flavor. Their steak is the star of the menu and works perfectly in just about any dish—especially the tacos. These are real, authentic tacos with warm, soft tortillas loaded with flavorful steak, cilantro and onions if you like, and both the green and red salsas bring just the right amount of delicious heat.
I’ve also ordered the Tacos Dorados, filled with potatoes and shredded chicken, and once again, they don’t cut corners when it comes to flavor. Every bite is satisfying and well-seasoned. The torta Cubana with a fried egg is hands down amazing. To top it all off, I highly recommend trying the Mora Agua Fresca—a refreshing blackberry drink made with real fruit that perfectly complements the meal.

Totally forgot to take pictures, but I had a torta. It was really good made the right way. My husband had the birra plate which was all right. I was impressed they had a good flow of customers coming in and out. Now all they need to get is fountain drinks. 11/4/25 went back again here’s some picture

Tacos El Don Mexican Kitchen is a hidden gem for those who appreciate authentic Mexican cuisine. This small restaurant offers a cozy and inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The food is simply fantastic – every dish I’ve tried has been bursting with flavor and clearly made with fresh, high-quality ingredients. The tacos are a standout, but their entire menu is worth exploring.
The staff at Tacos El Don are always friendly and attentive, adding to the overall positive experience. You can tell they take pride in their work and genuinely care about their customers. The service is quick and efficient, even during busy times.
However, I have to mention the price. For two people, it’s easy to spend around $60 for two meals and a good drink each, which is quite steep for a casual dining experience. This is the main reason I don’t visit as often as I’d like. While the food quality justifies the cost to some extent, it might not be within everyone’s budget for frequent visits.
Despite the high prices, I still recommend Tacos El Don Mexican Kitchen. The quality of the food and the overall dining experience make it worth a visit. If you haven’t been, I encourage you to check out their menu and give it a try. It’s a delightful spot for anyone who loves great Mexican food, and it’s definitely a treat for the taste buds!

We tried Tacos El Don for the first time tonight and we really have nothing ‘bad’ to say–the tacos were packed full of flavor and the tortilla shells were so so good. The server was more than friendly and sociable as well which was appreciated.
The only two things that lead me to knock a star off is:
1.) Our water wasn’t served with ice, so it wasn’t super cold which I would have preferred. There are other drink options from the refrigerated cooler so that can be easily circumvented.
2.) The quantity of chips and salsa don’t compare to most, if not all other latin/mexican based food places in Cleveland.
Overall I highly recommend Tacos El Don because their tacos are great and the two things I pointed out can be easily fixed in the future.

Stopped on our way to Memphis and received fast, friendly service. Food was absolutely delicious and tastes homemade. Loved especially the homemade tortillas with my street tacos.

Cute little spot! This place is so cute inside, and the food does not disappoint. I ordered a torta de jamón, ham sandwich, and it was delicious! My niece got a burrito and said it was so good too. The salsas provided ! My favorite was the red one. Cant wait to try other items from the menu next time!

As a Mexican American who grew up on Mexican food (Californian&New Mexican) I feel I can definitely say this is as close to Authentic Mexican as you can get in Cleveland and probably most of Tennessee. I’ve been to almost every “Mexican” restaurant in Cleveland and one thing they all have in common is they ALL taste the same, BLAND. Salt seems to be the main spice. Tacos El Don food has alot of flavor and spices. They really do cater to the people who want that authentic taste. Now that they are a actual restaurant their menu has expanded. I just finished my Chilaquiles Birria from their brunch menu and all I can say is YUMYUMYUM!!!!
