The Hilltop is a classic Wisconsin supper club located just minutes from Madison, WI. We’re known for Prime Rib on Saturdays, Wednesday and Friday fish fry, hand-cut steaks, pork porterhouse, pork back ribs, and seafood favorites.
Guests enjoy a cozy, comfortable dining experience with Frank Sinatra playing softly in the background, friendly service that feels like family, and supper club staples like a perfectly made Brandy Old Fashioned. A welcoming gathering place for great food and good company.

Our first ever visit was for a birthday celebration. We made convenient online reservations.
The restaurant vibe is old school supper club. Warm rolls with cinnamon butter were provided along with cocktails.
We started with cheese curds and a fabulous cheeseball as our appetizers.
My husband loves BBQ ribs which were a special. He said they were about the best he’s ever had.
4 of us had the chicken carbonara which was also a special. Very good!
Lastly 1 person had the broiled fish fry which was also a special. This was the only dish that didn’t meet expectations. The comment was made that it was overcooked.
We finished with 3 Grasshopper drinks which were yummy!
Great service. We were very pleased overall with our experience.
Will definitely go back.
Edit: I can’t believe I forgot to mention the soup. There were 2 of us that chose the cream of potato soup as our side. It was fabulous. Honestly one of the best soups I’ve ever had.

Our seating was opposite of the bar near the entryway and the partition wall greatly isolated the bar racket. We ordered the NY strip and the slow roasted prime rib. Fries, scalloped potatoes, and chili were sides. The fries had been sitting long enough to be only warm, but I could tell when they were fresh they would have had a good subtle crisp. The scalloped potatoes and chili were great. The NY was seasoned well and was perfectly cooked to medium. The 24-hour slow roasted prime rib (Saturdays) was very tender, though the flavor could have been better. The aus jus saved it and was good. We decided to also order the desserts of a grasshopper (one of the best I’ve had) and cheesecake. This was house made pumpkin cheesecake and was of a generous portion. My wife and I would eat here again. We might have to come back sooner than expected for more chili! Keep an eye out for drunk townies. Some dude in his 60’s with a group thought it was a good idea to quickly fake lunging out in front of my car as I was pulling in. It was 5pm. Bro, you gotta live long enough to get SSI and your AARP card. Be less stupid.

Everything you want out of a supper club. The old fashions were on point and exactly what you expect. The service from our waiter was really great, he took really good care of our larger party and didn’t miss a thing. My wife’s steak was perfectly cooked and the ribs I had were very flavorful. I like a little more sauce on my ribs personally but that doesn’t take anything away from these ribs. The Caesar salad had way too much dressing on it. That’s my only complaint about the food. The desserts were phenomenal. I had a salted caramel shake, which was to die for, and got to sample many of the other desserts at the table. All of them were fantastic and we enjoyed them very much.
All around a great experience that I would recommend to anyone.

The food here is very good. We like going midweek for the fish fry, and the ribs are quite good, too. My only complaint is that the non-fish fry menu has —count them — three chicken and pasta dishes, all with that heavy and rich Alfredo sauce. Last time there, I asked the waitress if I could get the pasta without the Alfredo, and she said no. Can’t they offer one chicken-pasta dish without the goopy Alfredo? Does carbonara have to have Alfredo sauce? How about a simple primavera? Please?

Previously I would have recommended this place to anyone but unfortunately I will not be coming here again. My wife and I had a reservation, and we were not seated til almost an hour after the reserved time. What’s the point of a reservation if it’s not actually reserved? Once we were seated the waitress informed us that they are all out of prime rib. I let her know that we have waited almost an hour over our reserved time and asked if there is anything else that is unavailable tonight, which she said no. She mentioned that all steaks, other than prime rib, were available as well.
After we look at the menu, the waitress returns and tells us that they only have two 6oz fillets left. At this point I tell her that we will be leaving and she responds with “You’re not going to find steak anywhere else at this time.” I reminded her politely that we drove 40min to get here, waited an hour AFTER our reservation time to get seated, and now can’t order what we came here for, but maybe we could’ve if we were seated on time. Her response was “It’s Valentine’s Day” like it was our fault or something. Well maybe The Hilltop needs to be prepared better if you’re going to serve food during holidays. We were never offered any kind of compensation, hardly got an apology. So due to the very poor customer service I will not come back again.

The Hilltop does not honor reservation times. Waited far past our time without any updates from staff. Later when seated we were told they were out of almost all options including the main special. Only two fillets were left. I would have been much more understanding if we were told when we were waiting in the bar area for an hour as it was then well past 8 pm. The location is rural and not very close or any other options so we were out of luck for dinner. No make goods offered just told this is what you should expect on Valentine’s Day.

We stopped at the Hilltop Supper club for the first time last night. There is a nice bar off to the right when you walk in; the dining area is dimly lit (as a supper club should be.) They seated us right away. The service is polite and quick. Old fashioneds were good, the menu was a little limited and they have no salad bar…i hate that few supper clubs have them anymore. The soup was good, filet was very good, the prime had a lot of fat but was tender. We finished with a smores ice cream drink which we both enjoyed. All in all, I would definitely go back.

Decent meal. We went on a Friday night and were able to get a table fairly quickly. Prices are good. Most of us got the fish fry, which was a bit heavy on the breading for my liking. Our waitress was friendly. The atmosphere is similar to other Wisconsin supper clubs.

Waitress, bartender, overall customer service was excellent. Ordered a medium rare prime rib.($40) Came out no more than 100° internal. Informed waitress who was apologetic and nice and informed me I would receive a new cut. Was return the same cut just “seared” with the internal temperature Colder than previous. The chief should be embarrassed and retrained. Waitress 10/10.

When I think of Supper Clubs, this is place is exactly what comes to mind. Dont let the interior distract what lays in wait inside.
A wide range of entrees and drinks available.
I had the porterhouse pork chop which was good. You can get it anyway you’d like. I had mine medium well and it was done perfectly.
I will certainly come back if in the area.
