The Hickory Hog – Jersey’s Best BBQ Restaurant Opened in 2007, we are an award-winning BBQ restaurant that slowly smokes all our ribs and meats with hickory, mesquite and apple wood in our state-of-the art smoker with everything made to order. This was some of the best BBQ food we’ve ever had. Exactly what we were looking for!
We stumbled upon this little place returning to our rental from Atlantic City, and it was well worth it. Great food and fantastic service – we were the only ones eating in, but the woman serving us was a gem. She was genuinely interesting in where we’d been and how our trip was going.
We’ll definitely be back if we’re ever in the area again.

We got there around 4 pm, on a Saturday. So we basically had the restaurant to ourselves, everything was delicious, we highly recommend it. Reasonable priced. Take out orders seem to be a preference, Very casual, great service, connected to liquor store byob, handicap parking and seating, kid friendly fall off the bone deliciousness . Craving BBQ in winter try them, you won’t be disappointed

Just ordered 10 buffalo wings – order was wrong – someone put “mild” buffalo on the order. Anyways I got it home and it didn’t make much of a difference as there was almost ZERO sauce on the wings ! I sentence them to 12 months probation !

For not dining out, the food is very expensive. The chicken was dry and not very good. The ribs were just OK. The side dishes were small and cold. Definitely expensive for two people for take home food that wasn’t very good. First time there and would not go back again.

Let there be no hesitation when choosing The Hickory Hog for some great, soul pleasing, lip-smaking, finger licking BBQ. We were served by the sweetest curly hair waitress who was very pleasant, knowledgeable, and patient. She took great care of us from A-Z she anticipated our needs before we had to ask for anything along with the rest of the team.
Now let’s get down to the important part…The BBQ food.
We tried the BBQ Chicken which was just the right amount of basted heaven sent fresh chicken and the Baby Back ribs. The Baby Back ribs were tender, moist, fall of the bone goodness that you long for. the Cornbread with a thick buttery honey basted deliciousness that I wanted to shove in my mouth whole it was so good!! We also tried the Mac and Cheese-and that too was so delicious that I wanted to go in the kitchen and marry the cook!!
We went 4th of July-there wasn’t many patrons, I’m assuming it’s because everyone is down the shore…but they were missing out! Complete with a parking lot and a comfortable dining room…this is easily my top 3 in BBQ food ! Prices were extremely reasonable and establishment was clean.
Please do try them-I mean this with my whole heart-It was a 10 out of 10 for me.
