Familiar German eats like schnitzel & goulash in an elaborate building with a patio & beer garden.

Michael was our sever, and he had spectacular energy. He offered us different samples of their beers and got me HOOKED on the grapefruit one. The pretzels are warm, soft, and deliciously comforting. The beer cheese and herbaceous butter was the cherry on top. Atmosphere is delightful on the balcony and service was quick. My sister and I had a spectacular time during our visit to Helen. Will be returning with more people!

Pretty good! I’ve never had German food but have come to the realization that maybe I just don’t like Germa cuisine all that much. The food was fresh, hot and delicious so I can’t complain about that. Sausages didn’t taste much different from the ones you can buy in the store. The German potato salad (which came out warm) was LOVELY though! I’m not a big fan of Sauerkraut I’ve discovered, but was able to tolerate it when combined with the sausage + spicy mustard. Service was friendly and food arrived in a timely manner. May not come back to this one since there are plenty of restaurants in Helen, GA, but I got full and left satisfied for sure!

Cute place in Helen, GA. The Atmosphere was so neat. Loved the German music and murals. Our waitress, Amanda, was PERFECT! The food was lacking in my opinion. It wasn’t bad or anything, just lacked flavor compared to other German restaurants I’ve been to. Overall I’d give it a 4 out of 5. I’ll give it another shot when I come back, every place deserves a second chance. Plus I’d come back just for Amanda. Her service and smile is contagious. So give it a shot. I’ll try something different next time and update when I do.

The German food was tasty! I didn’t know what to expect but we tried a few things and it was all great. We appreciated the recommendations the server had about the menu. The beer was really good too!

1st time visit. We ordered the pretzel with beer cheese and the Wurst Platter which had three different sausages. The pretzel came with melted butter to dip it in which made it feel like I was eating crab Legs, it was weird. The beer cheese was very runny, more like cheese milk but it was still very good with the pretzel. The pret,el was so soft and delicious. The sausage player was a great variety and really good. Our sides were the German potato salad which was def different. It was warm, ad onions, bacon and vinegar. We did like it. We also had the steamed veggies and mash potatoes which were both very good. Also had a few beers and their our apple liquor drink. Loved it.
I would eat here again.
The line to get in is in a stairwell and awkward.

Mmm it has potential. It’s not great. Average service and food
The goulash is weird… looks more like a stew.
The potato pancakes are really good.
The music is horrible…
Wouldn’t return

Excellent food and wonderful atmosphere, true German experience, and cuisine. There is seating inside and outside. Many choices of delicious entrees to choose from.
They have 2 musicians playing and singing while walking around to bring in some wonderful German music. Very good beer and adult beverages are available and pair excellent with your meal.
Wonderful experience and very worth the visit!
Very friendly staff and great service!

Started out with a pretzel with “beer cheese” that was extremely runny and very sad. The pretzel itself was ok. Regarding the entree, the potatoe salad was not doing it and the sauerkraut and bratwurst was just good enough to eat most of it but that’s mainly thanks to the mustard. Our waitress was pretty short and disinterested. The place felt stuffy and there was persistent smell of weed.
To put it simply, not worth it. For the price, wait for the table, and quality, I feel like it’s time wasted. I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re okay with mid German food.

The restaurant is nestled in the small but scenic town of Helen, GA. I have been to this establishment multiple times over the past two years. The quality of the food is quite good, especially the Schnitzel. The portions are large, and most people will need a box for leftovers.
The service is consistent. The atmosphere/ambiance is average, but you don’t go there for that anyway. The wait time can vary, depending on time of day, but usually not more than 15-20 minutes. The prices are reasonable.

Overall, our dinner at the Heidelberg was good. The exterior of the restaurant looks just like a Bavarian town. Unfortunately, the interior is looking quite rundown and in need of a refresh. The food was good, came out hot and pretty quickly. We did order as soon as we sat down since there were quite a few groups of people who looked to have been waiting for a while. The schnitzel was our favorite part. Based on all things we’d likely come back.
