If you’re looking for a dinner spot in Madison where the vibes are on point and the food actually lives up to it—The Harvey House is it. The space is beautiful, the bar is stunning, and the whole place feels like a special-occasion kind of night (even if it’s just because you’re hungry).

My dish was superb, but the French onion soup might be the best I’ve ever had. Instead of being super thick and heavy, it was rich, creamy, and loaded with Wisconsin cheese in the best way. Absolute must-order.

If you’re planning a Madison trip or a nice dinner out, put this one high on your list.

My husband and I came here for the first time to celebrate my birthday earlier this month. For a restaurant located close to downtown, having parking right at the entrance was such a pleasant surprise.

We were seated in a dining hall converted from a train car, which truly felt like dining aboard the Orient Express—such a fun and unique experience. Every staff member we interacted with, whether directly serving us or not, was incredibly friendly and greeted us with warm smiles. Especially during the cold winter season, the entire dining experience felt welcoming and wonderful from start to finish.

For our main courses, we ordered the walleye and the steak—both were absolutely delicious! I especially loved the dipping sauce that came with the walleye; the touch of mustard made it stand out for me.

Thank you to every member of the staff. We will definitely be back and bring more friends next time!

We got there earlier than planned and decided to relax at the bar with a drink before dinner. That turned out to be the perfect start to the evening. Once seated, the hospitality really stood out—Jeremy and the staff were warm, attentive, and clearly proud of what they do. The drinks were creative and well balanced, and the food impressed us across the board. Everything about the experience felt thoughtful and elevated. This spot easily earns a return visit and a strong recommendation.

Lively atmosphere, impeccable service, beautiful building, and a creative, elevated take on Wisconsin supper club dishes. Great place for date night, business dinner, or special occasion. Service couldn’t have been friendlier from the moment we walked in. Walleye with spatzle and horseradish was the star for me. I admit to being somewhat skeptical of the $18 relish tray, (which is often included in the price of dinner at a traditional supper club), but it was huge and the presentation was stunning. Would definitely return. Free parking onsite. Reservations recommended.

Swung by right after opening on a Wednesday and the experience right off the bat was excellent. Hostess set the bar high by saying that my server is her favorite server when she eats there and the server Zoe was phenomenal.

Loved seeing the passion and authentic enthusiasm in her face when she spoke of the food; she answered all my questions made me genuinely excited and giddy to eat. The salmon was excellent, perfectly fluffy and moist and the skin was PERFECTLY crispy.

Excellent customer service from all other waitstaff, can’t wait to be back in Madison to eat here again.

Really pleasant dinner at The Harvey House a few weeks ago. The crudite platter was good BUT the green goddess dip was borderline tasteless. I’d recommend some salt and more punchy herbs. The fish entree was spectacular and unlike anything I had ever had, truly a showstopper. Drinks were well made, and our waiter was so on top of it coming with ice cold glasses halfway through our martinis. I would definitely recommend and revisit.

Went with several girlfriends on a Saturday evening. The food was delicious and the service was outstanding. I got the ice cold martini and almost cried tears of joy when the switched out my glass for a cold one halfway through the drink. The NY strip was so so good and my friends really enjoyed the walleye. I forget our servers name but he had recently moved to Madison from I believe Houston and did such a great job helping us have a wonderful evening! The only comment would be I wish we had more of the pretzel crackers on the relish tray- they were very tasty. I will be back for sure!

Hidden excellence! Hey call me Old Fashioned, that’s the name of a drink, the place offers a quaint atmosphere with a fantastically different menu. The Walleye was next level. The kielbasa in a blanket, truly Wisconsin! And that chocolate cake, as succulent as your first date!

Highly recommend the pork and beans appetizer – sooo good! And the Boulevardier cocktail is crazy good
