We had a truly enjoyable dinner at The Happy Clam. The lobster rolls were outstanding, full of fresh, sweet lobster meat, lightly dressed, and served on a perfectly toasted bun with fries, cole slaw, and warm drawn butter. The portions were generous, and every bite tasted authentic to Maine.
Inside the restaurant was comfortable and clean, with plenty of seating and a relaxed atmosphere. What made the meal even better was the service. Our server was kind, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome from the moment we walked in. It’s clear that the staff take pride in both the food and the experience they provide.
If you’re visiting the area, this is exactly the kind of place you want to stop: great food, friendly people, and a true taste of Maine hospitality. Highly recommend!

We ordered the mussels and the New England clam chowder. The mussels were amazing and delicious. The sauce and the bread go together really nicely. I liked the clam chowder but it was bit too salty for me. I added some black pepper to it and it definitely helped. Overall the service, food, and atmosphere were great!

We are from Maine but haven’t spent much time in this area but it has been super. The Happy Clam is full of hard working local people , bringing the local charm and cuisine. Our dinners Clam and Scallop were delicious, the staff was super friendly, drinks are strong and the atmosphere top notch.. after our meal we spent some time in their vast back patio area which had a fire , amazing new bar and local music. Definitely a festive charming spot to spend time for a meal or a whole afternoon. We happen to meet one of the owners, who was humble and alot of fun. Their to little dog seemed to be the mascot , also super friendly and the cherry on the top of the cake for this amazing little spot !

The german food here is outstanding! I got the crab roll and ended up not liking it very much but I took a few bites off of the other plates at my table and the german food was crazy good! Definitely go for the jeager schnitzel and then finish off with the blueberry ice cream. The staff was awesome and the chef was super nice too!

We met some friends for dinner at the Happy Clam. It was a very interesting place, right down to the working rotary phone. The menu is a mix of seafood and German dishes, which we were eager to try. The attentive waitress recommended the schweinshaxe, a whole pork shoulder slow cooked and briefly deep fried to crisp the outside. It was served with spaetzle and red cabbage. The pork was delicious, flavorful & tender. The red cabbage was also delicious, the spaetzle was an unusual yellow and bland. They also had German beers.
Next time we will try a seafood dish.
