No surprise here. This place is ranked highly by other costumers and their reputation proceeds them. Sandwiches are fresh and delicious. Be prepared to wait about 10-12 minutes for your order. This isn’t Subway, JJ or Jersey Mikes. Nothing against those places(ok maybe Subway lol). My wife ordered The Rachel and I ordered Earnie cold cut with lettuce, onions and cucumber added. Chips are flavorful but will try the potato salad next time.

Great bahn mi, super flavorful and yummy. The bahn mi is loaded up with tofu, lots of hoisin, and spicy sauce. I wouldn’t consider it a traditional bahn mi, they have their own spin on it, but it hits the spot.
My only complaint is the atmosphere. It was really smoky inside the whole time I was there. The kitchen and dining area are open and there isn’t much of a division.
The staff was super nice and friendly.

My husband was a bit skeptical because of the neighborhood. When the food came out in brown paper, it only heightened his apprehensiveness. Our sandwich was great. They shredded the lettuce finer than I have ever seen before, and it was lightly dressed prior to adding to the ample piles if meat. We also ordered their home made chips. They were crispy however more seasoned than I prefer. All in all, I would definitely return to try another sandwich.

We’re so glad we decided to try The Half! At first glance it looks like a small spot, but they actually have a spacious backyard dining area, which is perfect if the front fills up. When we arrived, the line was a bit long, but service was efficient—we placed our order in about 10 minutes and had our food within 15.
We went for all the vegetarian options: the Clara, the Tofu Banh Mi, and the Pepper Pot with Tempeh. Everything was delicious, but the Pepper Pot really stood out—it had a hint of sweetness from the sweet potato purée, paired beautifully with the smoky, toasted ciabatta. The tempeh was flavorful and even won over my wife, who usually isn’t a fan! The Clara was hearty and satisfying with its chickpea salad, and the Tofu Banh Mi had a crispy bun and bold flavors.
Great food, warm vibes—definitely worth a visit!

Flew into Wilmington last weekend for the marathon and was fortunate enough to stumble upon The Half, and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming, and the staff was genuinely friendly. Even with a small crowd, we only waited a couple of minutes for a seat.
The highlight was the sandwich. Absolutely delicious and easily one of the best meals we had during our trip. Everything tasted fresh and well made.
I’ve already told several friends that if they’re ever in Wilmington, they need to stop here. We will definitely be back next time we’re in town.

We visited the Half for lunch on our way into the downtown shops. The line was almost out the door when we got there and never slowed down. Staff kept the crowd moving, including many to go orders. There is not much seating inside, and the outside seating was wet so we stood for a bit until a couple of seats opened up. It’s somewhat loud inside but everyone seemed happy and kind. They brought our food to us—the Tucker and the mumbai (yes potatoes on a sandwich works). Both were great and full of flavor, as were the pickles and chickpea salad. The menu notes which items are vegan and which items can be adjusted to vegan. They also have legit gluten free bread. This would be a difficult space to get around with mobility devices.

We enjoyed the tucker and ernie cold cuts with sides of chips and chickpea salad. The sandwiches were well filled but the condiments could have been distributed a bit more evenly and the chickpea salad was underwhelming.

The food here is incredible. The ambience is cozy and charming, and the service was super friendly—like genuinely warm. I stumbled across this spot and was so glad I did. I had the pastrami sandwich with a cucumber salad, and both were delicious. Bonus: they had Naragansett beer on draft—love a little local flavor. They also offer coffee, teas, salads, and other bites, so it’s more than just sandwiches. It seems to be a popular spot for younger folks too—lots of people hanging out, studying, or working on laptops. There’s a mix of seating options—benches, bar seating, high tops, and even a cute stone table out front. If I’m ever back in Wilmington, NC, I’ll definitely swing by again.

The staff was extremely friendly, kind, and accommodating. There is a bar to watch them make your sandwich. Indoor and outdoor seating. The sandwiches were delicious, they had nutritious sides like salad or pickles. Street parking is available. I would eat here again.
