A Galentine’s Day to celebrate with some friends (Feb 21st at 6pm. A day off for us (moms) but it turned to be a day to remember, I never thought i would experienced. Food is great, delicious, great presentation. Place is beautiful. But, as everyone was created equal, this place it seems they dont share the same idea, or are created better than everyone else. And its sad and dissapointed. We experience discrimination from the time we walk in til we left. Our waiter was very nice and professional yet the host and who ever was in charge was not. According to her every table was reserved even the outside. Where they put us in a small table. Where at the end, the reserved table, people never showed up. MEANING THEY WEREN’T REVERSED! Inside, after 7 or 8pm was open to the public but people were going in and out, without reservations. Even with all this, we were respectful and respectfully we left. Thank you for teaching me the lower class y’all are, very dissapointed but y’all can change for a better service

The Gruene Door is nestled in beautiful Gruene Lake Village, the restaurant is often praised for its refined New American cuisine, relaxed ambiance, and attentive service. That said, my visit didn’t quite live up to the rave reviews.
The crab dip was overwhelmingly cheesy, too heavy for my taste. The fried spinach, a dish that other diners seem to love didn’t do it for me; it lacked the balance and flavor. The crab cakes were equally disappointing, bland and uninspired, lacking the depth one anticipates from such a staple.
Despite the elegant setting and positive buzz, the food didn’t hit the mark. Service was pleasant enough, but nothing remarkable. For a restaurant with such consistently high praise for both cuisine and service, this outing left me longing for more.

Had a nice time. Lamb chops were delicious however my, expresso beef rib was a little over cooked and dry. Creme brulee was wonderful! Wish it came in a larger portion!

Excellent dining. The chef is incredible. I had a Ribeye, and it was cooked to perfect. Excellent seasoning. The restaurant is a little dark, and as you walk in, it has a feel of mid 1900’s. There is a little jazzy music in the background, but you can still talk comfortably with your guests. The service was okay. Our server was nice, but I wish she would have been a little more attentive.

Unfortunately, the food itself was a real letdown. Every dish we tried was overwhelmingly salty, to the point that it overshadowed any of the flavors that should have stood out and we were unable to finish any of the 4 steaks and chicken that were ordered.
I’d return for a glass of wine and the ambience, but unless the seasoning improves, the food isn’t something I’d look forward to again.

The food was EXCELLENT! From the Ceasar Salad to the Salmon! The staff was extremely kind and professional, the aunbuiance was very cosy! This was our first time but it won’t be our last! This is a MUST! We were there for a Financial Planning briefing and the meal was free! But we got a glass of wine.

Wedding anniversary dinner with my beautiful wife, wanted to go to a place that served lamb chops. Was pleasantly rewarded with a beautiful restaurant, when you first walk up you are greeted by outside dining with a wood-burning fireplace and outdoor heaters creating a wonderful wood smoke smell in the air. Upon walking in we were greeted by an amazing ambience. Taken to our table you taking the beautiful look of the restaurant. Our waiter was polite knowledgeable and friendly. Made a few suggestions that we liked and put magnificent drinks in front of us from a truly talented mixologist. Followed by appetizers main course and dessert everything was flawless every step of the way. Will definitely revisit again

I had the 14oz ribeye and it may have been the best ribeye eye I’ve ever had. Server was good but we sat outside in February and they had no propane for the space heaters outside? Other then that, after we got through the hostess, the server was good.

We were relocating to New Braunfels and had been looking at houses all afternoon when we discovered this place while drinking wine at a wine bar that is across the street from the restaurant. I was curious so I Googled The Gruene Door and found myself enticed by the menu. So we finished our wine then crossed the street for an early dinner.
We enjoyed several appetizers and a bottle of wine at a comfortable and charming patio table. Perfection.
I highly recommend this wonderful restaurant!
