The Ground Floor is such a beautiful and unexpected gem in Martinsville.

The space used to be completely abandoned, so walking in and seeing how thoughtfully and stylishly it’s been transformed was a really pleasant surprise. I had been away for a year and honestly wasn’t expecting something this lovely.

I stayed at the Jefferson Plaza Airbnb across the street for Christmas and came here every morning for my coffee. The atmosphere is cozy, welcoming, and the perfect place to start your day. Martinsville needed a spot like this, and they absolutely nailed it.

A great coffee shop in Martinsville. The coffee was excellent. The morning bun was a little tough but flavorful. Plenty of different places to sit and gather. Would stop by again!

Love this cafe so much. Cannot speak highly enough. It is a beautiful, cozy spot with delicious coffee and lovely cafe food. The staff are so sweet and do such a great job. It is much better than going to a chain cafe if you are in doubt! Definitely worth the visit!

The Ground Floor is mine and my girlfriend’s Saturday morning tradition. They have a great rotating menu of coffee and beverages as well as core staples. The staff are very friendly, knowledgeable, and welcoming. The dining menu and meals are great! (We go for breakfast). We are glad they are part of the community and make sure to bring friends with us when they are in town. They are a must spot for anyone visiting Martinsville.

This is easily one of the best coffee shops I’ve ever been to in terms of atmosphere. Whoever designed the interior absolutely nailed it from the cozy privacy nooks to the upstairs balcony or the bar overlooking the street, every space feels intentional and welcoming. It’s the kind of place you want to stay in for hours. Coffee was good and the food menu was top notch and not for a coffee shop but just as it is.

That said, my experience at the counter didn’t match the quality of the space and products. The person who took my order (brown hair, glasses, Harley shirt) came across as dismissive and made me feel like I was inconveniencing her just by asking a simple questions and was no help whatsoever. Not outright rude, but definitely not friendly and it really took away from and tainted the rest of the experience

The environment here is truly fantastic, and I’d love to come back. I hope the customer service can match the incredible atmosphere, because this place has so much potential

I have been an avid supporter of the Ground Floor since day one. We desperately have needed a safe space to grab a drink, chat over coffee, have meetings, catch up with old friends, or meet with your book club.

The staff at the ground floor is truly the very best. Morgan and Josh have trained the staff so well, and I’m grateful for their friendship we’ve formed over coffee and business with the staff. They always remember my orders, my allergies, and truly try to make sure you have the best experience.

The coffee is phenomenal. I also love that they homemake a few of their syrups (pumpkin spice and rosemary). The attention to detail is unlike anything in this area and much more mirrors a coffee shop in a larger metropolitan area.

Come as you are has truly been the best thing about the ground floor. I can come in dressed up, looking like a bum, in a frazzled rush, in a bad mood, and the staff is consistent every time. Such a welcoming space to hang out or decompress after work. I have so enjoyed getting to have a spot to meet friends for apps and drinks that isn’t a sketchy bar.

But let’s get to the food guys. The Thai bowl, the ham jam sandwich, even the kids grilled cheese! And we definitely can’t forget to mention the kitchen staff – they always greet me. Make sure my
Food is perfect. And the few times they have ran out of ingredients are really good about checking for substitutions that you like. Make sure to try the bruschetta, the whipped feta spread is one of the best appetizers I’ve ever had. Chefs kiss.

Cocktails! Coffee! Wine? Probiotic fiber soda to make you, ahemm, regular ? I really don’t know anywhere else around here that is this many options. Such a culturally diverse welcoming space all the way around.

Forever and always a ground floor lover, can’t wait to see the next menu items they drop!

Everything I ordered was delicious from the Chicken Salad Sandwich to the Iced Chai. The service was fantastic, and the atmosphere was impressive! They also, on every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month, host a Cars and Coffee, which is a great event with some really great cars!

Found this on our way to Roanoke. The atmosphere was amazing. Hit this place on a Friday night, had a live guitarist who was great, played a great variety. Ordered the campfire latte, it was delicious and the salads. I had the harvest bowl and my husband had the WAC salad. Both were fresh, delicious and amazing. If you can find a reason to come here, DO IT! so worth the small detour!!
