Enjoyed a delicious meal here yesterday. The food was amazing, service fabulous. The restaurant was busy, but run very smoothly.

This place is weird. It could be an episode on Kitchen Nightmares. Food is crappy and lazy. The owners gouge customers with a 3% fee for credit cards. Employees are either part of the family or scared younger people who don’t know that this isn’t normal. Every condiment or sauce comes in a plastic container with a lid. None of the “specials” were Greek. Nothing was fresh. Lettuce was brown and wilted. Seemed like most food that could be frozen was frozen. We ordered Keftedes that came out burned. They smelled burned and like…garbage. Sent them right back without even tasting them. I also clocked that the employees seem to be afraid of the woman who I guess is the manager? Another table asked the waiter how something was made and he responded by saying that they should talk to the manager who will explain it. When I asked for the check, our waiter said of course and would ask the manager to take off the Keftedes. They apparently cannot do anything without approval from the manager. They also charge 3% extra for using a credit card. I asked about it and our waiter, who I believe is part of the family who owns the place, said that they realized they were paying for people to get rewards points on credit cards and therefore paying for their vacations. Their response sealed the deal for me. Never going back. I can’t deal with people who make excuses for scamming people and don’t own up to their deceitful business tactics. And just a note on the atmosphere…what atmosphere? Music was loud and not Greek or even consistently themed. Football was on the two TVs at the bar. I’d think it was an Italian place based on the decor (aside from a couple Greek flags/nick nacks hung unceremoniously on the walls).
If you want to support a good, local restaurant, look elsewhere. This ain’t it.

Excellent food, service, atmosphere, and wonderful owners. I LOVE this place. The food is fresh, delicious, and plated beautifully. The food always comes out in a timely manner and the portions are generous. I LOVE the yiahni (green beans), moussaka, steak sub, french fries, souvlaki in pita, fish… the list goes on and on. Their Greek food is among the best in RVA. Love, love, love it, so yummy! Thanks for yet another great meal:)

Staff were really attentive. Food was pretty good. The premeal bread was actually amazing! Loved the dolmas. People seated right next to us soon after we arrived were talking really loudly. Would have preferred they had been seated further away since there were plenty of open tables.

The food here was satisfying. I enjoyed the spanikopita and the chicken parm but I don’t think there was anything particularly outstanding about them. The place was very crowded and is considerably smaller than I thought. The parking is truly limited and most people had to park in the adjacent parking lot of the law offices. Initially I was concerned because the law office has law office parking only signs, but once I saw multiple cars parked there, I took the chance- with no consequences resulting. The service here was very slow. It seemed as if we waited at least 15 minutes for someone to get drink orders and another 10 for someone to take our food orders. Despite the wait- we had a lot of catching up to do- it was a overall good experience. The bartender appeared to double as wait staff as he was the only one to tend to us the entire evening. He was quite apologetic and gave good service despite seemingly quite harried because of the crowd. I’d like to try this place again on a less busy evening. I have a feeling I would receive more attention and would have received it soon had it been a slower night

My husband and I finally stopped in after driving by so many times — and wow, I’m glad we did! The food is absolutely delicious, the staff is warm and attentive, and the cozy atmosphere makes you want to stay and talk for hours.
My husband had the chicken with garlic pasta — tender, perfectly seasoned, and amazing. I had the eggplant parmesan, and all I can say is “feed me more!” For dessert, we shared the homemade katafi ek mek — so fresh and tasty we almost fought over the last bite.
We’ll definitely be back! Pro tip: they have spicy lamb burgers on Thursdays and wine specials on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Stop in and say hello — you won’t regret!

Maybe we had an off night.
My friend who is a returning patron to this restaurant, suggested that we go here on Wednesday night.
It was around 8:05 PM.
The service was mediocre at best, but the kicker was that they don’t post on the website that the kitchen closes at 8:30. We wanted a to-go order for a friend but were told that the kitchen was closed.
Okay, fine…Make note of this, but it should be noted somewhere…
I could let that slide if it weren’t for the very lackluster service and the kicker was that it was 8:45— we were still eating and they were all rushing us off.
… The wait staff already turned chairs up and some most everyone was already gone by 8:50. Even one of the cleaning staff was ready to take a plate from my friend who was still eating from it and it wasn’t even 9PM yet.
I doubt I’ll return.
Saving grace — the food was good.
Just don’t go anytime after 8PM unless you want to get rushed out the door.

We found The Greek Taverna on Insta and had to try it! It did not disappoint! We were met at the door with a nice hello and seated in a booth (even though we didn’t have a reservation and it was almost rush time). Right when we were seated they brought us house made bread! The servers were very nice and friendly and explained all the specials.
We ordered the Greek street fries as an appetizer. For our main course we had the Greek baked spaghetti and the special of the day which was stuffed salmon with rice pilaf and a salad. All of it it was FABULOUS!
The Tzatziki sauce for the fries was good and thick. The fries were hot and the cheese was very good! Great appetizer!
The baked spaghetti was fantastic! The noodles were perfect, right amount of cheese and the perfect amount of sauce. There is also pepperoni, sausage and meatballs in the sauce and it’s huge! Also, I would name this as a #1 item for takeout in Richmond because it eats, travels and reheats well.
The salmon special was stuffed and came with a super tasty rice pilaf and salad. The salmon was cooked perfect and had a wine lemon dill cream sauce, my husband cleaned his plate! He loved it all!
For dessert we had Kataifi Ek Mek. It’s a Greek dessert that the owner makes with shredded wheat soaked in a sweet syrup with vanilla sweet cream (almost a pudding) topped with homemade whipped cream! It was FABULOUS, I ate it all!
They serve Greek wine and have specials on food and wine. Next time we will try the wine and other new things.
This was a fabulous dinner out and we will be back!
