Maya, our server was very friendly and very attentive. There was on minor issue with the service, but I really don’t blame our server. We ordered soup and asked if it could come out first, before our main courses. It did, but literally only a couple of minutes before our main courses came out, not giving us enough time to eat it. I think this was more an issue with the food runner than our server.
The food was a mixed bag. The soup had a nice broth, although it was a little thin compared to the avgolemono soup we are used to. The chicken in the soup was not good,it was dry and tasteless and seemed to be old.
I ordered the beef/lamb pita wrap. It was served with a small side salad and fries and everything was excellent.
My wife ordered the Greek salad with lamb (added). The salad was beautiful, but the tomatoes were tasteless and somewhat mealy. The dressing was a little too vinegary, but that is a personal taste thing, not necessarily the fault of the restaurant. The lamb was excellent.
Overall the food was good, but not great because of these issues.
If you’re coming here for the food, the choice is questionable. The chicken kebab was completely bland: the meat was barely marinated, no sauce was served, and as a result the dish was very dry and unsuccessful. The octopus was overcooked — rubbery and took forever to chew. The Greek salad tasted fine, but the tomato cuts were overly large and inconvenient to eat.
On the positive side, the White Sangria cocktail was excellent and very well prepared.
The service started off okay, but after declining a dish for the second time, the waitress clearly showed her dissatisfaction, which felt unprofessional.
Good location and appearance, but the food quality and service do not meet expectations.
This neighborhood should be greatful for having a restaurant like this.
I had a great experience at The Greek Joint Kitchen & Bar in Hollywood! The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming, the service was friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. I tried the Chicken Souvlaki Stick Platter and it was flavorful, perfectly cooked, and worth every dollar.
What I really liked is that they bring fresh bread to every guest before the main dishes — it was warm, tasty, and a great start to the meal. Definitely a spot I would recommend if you’re looking for authentic and tasty Greek food in the area. I’ll be coming back!
We had not confirmed any specific menu or package — only discussed the possibility of dessert platters with a staff member named Marta. Yet when we arrived, we were met with confusion and an unapologetic attitude from Alex, the owner. Instead of compassion or understanding, we were treated with indifference. Alex was completely unapologetic and dismissive, which made an already difficult day even harder.
It’s heartbreaking that a place that should represent hospitality could show so little care for grieving guests. I truly hope The Great Joint reflects on this experience and learns to treat its customers — especially those walking through painful moments — with more empathy and respect.
