Wow this place is a beauty. Cabin vibes on steroids. Big boy mason jars full of beer!! C’mon. I know it ain’t Iowa, must be heaven. All the food looked incredible. The Guinness in mason jar vessel was excellent. I found a home at the Great Lost Bear. Stoked to return.

A Portland classic serving worthy brewpub food and an ample selection of beer. On this occasion orderer the wings which came out as a generous serving of actual full wings. The salt and vingar flavor was tangy and unique.

We flew into town and were so hungry! We did a quick search from “places to eat near me” and the Great Lost Bear was one of the results. It didn’t look like much from the outside, but the inside was very clean and had a great atmosphere! We ordered wings, their version of fries (more like a flat slab of potato), a hamburger, and a melt. The wings were so good! Be aware that the 2 pound serving size is A LOT of chicken wings! We were very impressed with the large serving sizes of everything. The hamburger and the melt were also enjoyable (although I could’ve used some more sauce on the melt). Our server, Ryan, was quick, efficient, and friendly. Thank you for a great first experience in Maine!

We came in for a mid-day Saturday meal and were promptly seated outside. However, nobody came to our table for over 20 minutes to take our order. We had to go inside and ask someone to serve us. The food was okay, I’ve had both better and worse.

What a great stop! They had a good variety of beers and food. The PB & J Bird sandwich was one of the best chicken sandwiches I’ve ever had. I was skeptical about the flavors, but it worked so well and had just the right amount of heat. Ella was a thorough and attentive server!

“The Bear” is a destination. I’ve hung out here since back when they were The Grizzly Bear. The menu is freaking huge. So many options. My favorites are their dirty wings (only served on Sundays), chili cheese fries, and any of their burgers. They serve over 100 beers on tap so if you can’t find something that suits your tastes then I don’t know if you ever could. A very college vibe with bench seating, table, outside (seasonal), and bar seating available. Parking is almost non-existent so plan accordingly. This is a great place to hang out with family and friends. Just chill and enjoy a good meal with a brew. Retro signs on the walls that will keep you occupied while you’re waiting for the food to arrive (and beyond).

You’re gonna leave full and happy. Had to leave to run errands, and the staff was super patient. Had my first cheese steak with cream cheese sauce. A new experience, but worth the wait after being hungry. The chocolate cake in a cup is a no joke dessert, but every bite was worth the stomach ache after.

Popped in the day after Thanksgiving, just after 5:00, and this place was buzzing with energy! The vibe was lively, with tons of quirky decor that made it feel like a hidden gem. Luckily, it’s got plenty of space, so we were seated in no time. The staff was friendly, and the food definitely hit the spot. I was a little surprised when the veggie Reuben arrived open-faced—it wasn’t the easiest to tackle, but it was still tasty. The chicken nugget-and-fries basket? Absolutely massive—seriously, it could feed a small army. The swordfish sandwich was a solid choice, full of flavor. Definitely a fun stop for a casual, satisfying meal!

An excellent array of local beers and the appetizers hit the spot. The main courses kicked serious ass. Add in the great price, the superb staff and it’s the destination for you, a friend or even the family.
