How Grand is the Grand Buffet? Grand Sierra Resort Casino Reno
Reviews
If you’ve seen old reviews, forget them — the Grand Buffet has truly stepped it up under new management. The difference is night and day. The biggest highlight? Freshness. If food ever sits too long, it doesn’t get recycled — it gets replaced. At the end of the night, everything is cleared out so that the next day begins with fresh food and fruit across every station. And when I say everything is fresh, I mean everything.
The variety is incredible: from seafood and steak to Italian, American comfort dishes, Asian specialties, and a dessert spread that feels endless. Afternoons are highly recommended for the widest range of options, though mornings are just as fun if you check the menus ahead of time to see what’s featured. The pho station and one other area may be closed, but honestly, with so many other choices around, it never feels like you’re missing out.
The atmosphere is spacious, clean, and welcoming, and the staff take care of the dining room attentively — drinks get filled, tables stay cleared, and everything looks inviting. The service has that mix of warmth and efficiency that makes the experience feel effortless.
Yes, this is a buffet, but not the kind where you’re left wondering if something sat too long. Here, quality and care are prioritized. The desserts are just as fresh as the entrees, the seafood is replenished regularly, and the carving station is always worth a stop.
For anyone on the fence because of older complaints about price, quality, or service — this is not the same buffet you read about years ago. This is one of the best dining experiences Reno has to offer when you want variety, freshness, and an all-around great time. Highly recommended for families, date nights, or anyone who just wants to indulge in a feast where every detail is cared for.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Not all stations were open (omelettes were being cooked at the Mongolian Grill station) but those that were, had fresh & hot food available. There was a lot of options at the fruits & salads, and desserts stations.
Tony, our waiter, provided impeccable service & was very attentive to our requests.
You pay before seating, and then they seat you at a table overlooking the casino floor. Which would be a great view if it wasn’t right next to the line of hungry people waiting to get into the restaurant. I wish there was a better layout there.
The selection of food was incredible-LOOKING. However, the taste was not great. The crab legs and seafood smelled very fishy. It was like everything we tasted was just a little “off,” which in retrospect could be attributed to the taste of being closed to spoilage.
All the wait staff were very courteous, but Ramon went the extra mile! Thanks to both Ramon and Vasco my wife and I had a wonderful dining experience!
Some of the “counters” were also not opened. Like the seafood counter was displaying fruits. The pho station was closed. No pasta at the omelette and pasta station.
The omelette station was the only place that served fresh food but the line was too long with only one cook available. That and the orange juice machine.
