Went late for Valentine’s Day dinner. It was nice and warm inside and pretty quiet. We had some of the specials. I had the chicken Marsala which was fabulous, lots of flavor! My fiancé had the bbq salmon and he loved it, the potato cake with that meal was especially good. Each meal came with a decent size side salad and we both had the creamy vidalia onion dressing which was unique and really good

The menu is diverse and creatively crafted, delivering dishes that are both flavorful and beautifully presented. Every bite is a culinary delight, making it deserving of a full 5 stars for the quality of its cuisine. The service is attentive and friendly, ensuring that your needs are met promptly and with a smile. While there might be occasional delays but I can’t blame them since there was only one waiter, but the dedication to a positive dining experience shines through! The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a cozy interior that makes you feel right at home. The decor is tasteful, and the ambiance is perfect for both casual meals and special occasions. Overall, fantastic choice for delicious food, solid service, and a pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended for anyone looking to enjoy a memorable meal!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE , the governors pub. Been there several times with family and every experience has been great. My favorite things would definitely have to be the spinach flatbread , a great selection of boozy drinks, and the amazing service.

Escaping State College for Friday night date night on a busy home game weekend, we went to The Governors Pub in Bellefonte. I started with a Traditional Mojito, which was quite large and refreshing on a steamy September evening and my husband said his beer was good, too. The house salad was tasty with lots of fresh greens, and I added the grilled portobello mushrooms as a topper, which were delicious. I was disappointed that the corn chowder on the menu was replaced with a French Onion Soup, so I decided on the chili instead. The chili was hearty, black beans, corn and chorizo, it had more cumin seasoning than I prefer in chili, but after our server brought some sour cream, I enjoyed it well enough. Hubby ordered the fish and chips. He liked the nice thick batter, but the cod itself missed the mark for freshness. Their fries are fabulous, I really enjoyed the seasoning on them, fresh cut, crispy and I swear a hint of rosemary. The cole slaw that came with was creamy, yet still crisp. The staff was friendly, our server was very attentive, and the atmosphere was welcoming. Best thing about it was, it wasn’t ridiculously busy and we didn’t have a wait to be seated on a Friday night. We will go back.

Governor’s Pub in Bellefonte offers a charming setting just steps away from Spring Creek and the old rail station park.
Upon arrival, the staff greeted us warmly, setting a welcoming tone for our dining experience. The decor strikes a balance between American craft and modern styles, featuring intriguing wall hangings that add character to the ambiance.
The margarita we ordered was crafted with fresh lime juice, providing a refreshing start to our meal. The menu, while simple, caters to both carnivores and vegetarians alike, showcasing the tavern’s commitment to accommodating diverse dietary preferences.
For our main courses, we opted for the homemade falafel sandwich, which boasted a crispy texture and was complemented perfectly by the red pepper hummus. Additionally, the portabella and artichoke sandwich, topped with fried onions and mozzarella cheese, offered a delightful burst of flavors.
The homemade side of fries, served with malt vinegar, was a delicious accompaniment, alongside the flavorful homemade coleslaw and pickles.
To top off our dining experience, we indulged in the homemade coconut cream pie, which was simply divine and left us craving more. Overall, Governor’s Tavern delivers not only delectable dishes but also a cozy atmosphere, making it a must-visit spot in Bellefonte for both locals and visitors alike.

Love this place and the surrounding area has a charm that’s tough to beat. Had the Chorizo chili which was delicious with just enough heat and the Fish and Chips.
Now. To be clear, these are the best Fish and Chips I have ever had. Ever. No comparison in the way that others can’t even be in the same room. I live in South Florida and there is a place in Pembroke Pines (about 20 minutes from where I live) that has deservedly won Best F&C’s in America since 2018. That is until now.
They are nowhere near what we had at The Governor’s Pub. Yuengling breading.. amazing. Crispy and light, and the fish was flaky and perfect. Even the tartar sauce was a delight. Run, don’t walk to eat this.
