I brought my son here to enjoy a late dinner this week and it was quite the experience. We ordered the spanakopita appetizer, which was a great portion and exactly what I expected, creamy and flaky, perfect temperature throughout. Then we had the lamb and the chicken skewers. Both were incredible with exceptional portion sizes.
Our server was divine as well, I can’t recall the name, but everyone was pleasant and attentive.

I have eaten here countless times over the years and always leave satisfied. You can count on delicious drinks and meals that hit the mark every time. I always recommend.
The Golden Stag has so many special touches all year round.
My family had a really special experience dinning during the most recent Christmas event, a showing of the movie Elf.
Such a unique time.
As a vegetarian, they were able to accommodate me the entire night, which I was so thankful for.
Everything was well thought of.
The decorations, above and beyond.
The Golden Stag has always been my favorite, after tonight, I also have a lasting holiday memory with my family that I am truly grateful for! Thank you so much to everyone who put the event together! Well done!

Really I wish I could give a 3.5. It was fine, we got the Greek trio app which was pretty good, but fairly steep for the portion. The hummus was very creamy and the grape leaves were nice. I got the seafood pasta which was quite tasty, but fairly heavy and light on shrimp in particular. The menu says you can add a “house-baked boule” to any pasta item and we were like sure sounds great we’d love bread, let’s do that. We should’ve been clued in when the conversation went, “we’d like to add the boule” “great, the bowl?” “yes, the boule” “great, I’ll get that in for you”. It just wasn’t a boule, a boule is a specific type of bread. My partner’s pasta essentially came served on a pizza crust, totally not what we were expecting, and just straight up not what that word means. Boule means ball in French! It’s a specific thing! You can’t just pretend it means bread bowl because it sort of sounds like bowl in a French accent. Also the vegan pasta was very salty. I like salt and it was intense for me, I felt bad for my partner that his meal was pretty underwhelming (salty and no loaf of bread as imagined). We were there on the late side (but left ten minutes before close) and did definitely feel like we were rushed out (offered boxes while still eating, check dropped very quickly).

One of the best meals you’ll have in Manistee!
The Golden Stag in Manistee is a total gem. The ambiance sets the tone – cozy yet elevated, with a laid-back elegance. Laura & Jamil are two of the best owners – if you get the opportunity to meet them, say hello.
I ordered the lamb chops, and I can confidently say they were perfection. Grilled to a beautiful char on the outside, tender and flavorful on the inside, served over fluffy rice and paired with a citrusy grilled lemon and chutney that pulled it all together.
Cocktails were classic and strong – exactly what you hope for in a proper martini. The presentation was beautiful, and the attention to detail across the board was truly impressive.
Whether you’re a local or just passing through Manistee, The Golden Stag is a must! Elevated comfort food, incredible drinks, and a vibe that feels both upscale and inviting. Can’t wait to return!

This is simply and truly the most wonderful and exquisite dining experience that a restaurant can offer. As soon as we entered the dining room and were seated, we knew we made a good choice for a place to eat on a special occasion. The options were presented to us visually from the menu and verbally from our fantastic waitress Shelby so that we could choose what we desired to the best of our ability. Every dish had many layers of exciting flavor that kept us wanting more. This will be a place we return to many more times.

We visited tonight for the first time , invited by friends who have eaten here before. The restaurant was beautifully decorated and warm and inviting. We had made reservations and were seated right away. The staff was awesome. Our server was attentive and took our orders in a timely manner. I had gluten free pizza. It was fantastic. I loved the unique options for the pizza. My husband had chicken Marsala and he is still raving about how good it was. We will definitely visit again!!!

My family of 5 went to the Golden Stag last October and had a wonderful experience. The appetizers, drinks, and entrees were amazing, made with quality ingredients, and reasonably priced. Our waitress, who was also one of the owners, was friendly and extremely competent. When we ordered two buttered rum hot cocktails to share after dinner she divided them into 5 different glasses.
We all had an amazing dining experience and we will definitely be going back!! Thank you Golden Stag!!

What a magical surprise when we entered The Golden Stag for the dinner on the 31st of December. It was a savory memorable delight with all the ambience and festivities of the evening, but it was cozy. All the dishes that emerged from the kitchen were created from fresh and most organic ingredients.
We could all hear and participate in the conversation without risking life or limb bending and contorting to catch what the people at our party was saying.
I had the creamy heirloom pasta that was exquisite and had never tasted such a succulent sauce, my husband had the alfredo classico, my sister had the stuff grape leaves, loaded hummus and my brother had the loaded vegan peppers, but before we had to try the hot buttered rum to wet our appetite and for dessert we had the decadent and succulent Moscato berry tiramisu, and my brother had the pistachio e melegrano.
Jamil and Laura have always taken enormous pride in serving the best nutritious dishes and never fail their patrons. We usually need a doggie bag, but due to their clean and wholesome ingredients we were almost able to finish everything on our plates.
I could only speak for my dining experience—from heirloom pasta to the tasty fresh tabouleh salad with the amazing citrus flavor to the Moscato berry tiramisu cake, we had elevated our palettes to another heavenly dimension. It was a euphoric This local nook could be on the streets of NYC, Chicago or L.A. Thank goodness we were able to partake in this memorable sleepy, Currier and Ives picturesque little town.

Wonderful dinner! Been dreaming of the fig and prosciutto pizza for a year, and it did not disappoint! The kids also liked their wood-fired pizzas, and my hubby’s elk was amazing! My mom’s carbonara was great as well. Sharing desserts of tiramisu and three-berry cobbler was an excellent way to end the meal! Can’t wait to return!
