If you’re looking for a place where creepy men try to hit on your wife, this is the place for you.
Overall the food is ok, beer is ok (get the non-house beers), service is also ok. For a prime spot on the Monon, the goat is extremely underwhelming. Seems like a lot of the staff is new or at least rotates a lot. Not necessarily saying anything bad about them, just that it seems more training is needed from management.
The men’s restroom in the bar area has pictures of nude and semi-nude women on the walls. Pretty odd for Carmel, let alone the Mid Town area. I guess that’s what may attract the sort of clientele we experienced.
As these men were working their way around the bar area it became pretty clear the staff knew what was going on. We’d get glances from employees that made me feel like this is a regular issue. If that’s true, someone needs to step in because this ruins the experience of any restaurant/bar. I was there with friends too who had the same issue that night with unwanted advancements from the clientele.
As I said the food and drinks are ok, but the atmosphere is a complete turn off. Across the street is Sun King where I’d recommend going instead

This is one of the coolest places around. Very cool vibe with a lot of really cool history hanging on the walls. They have built a new larger bar area and this will be the new hang out spot in Carmel. The bar selection is off the charts. I met the owner and his gal, and they are amazing. If you have not been here yet, run don’t walk to give this place a try. The staff is very friendly and is more than willing to show off what they have in their spirit stock. They make their own old fashion recipe and it is also extremely good. They are doing everything right. Go enjoy The Goat, Greatest of all Taverns!!!

The Goat is an Icon of Carmel for several years, it is the perfect place to go to get drinks. It is literally by the Monoon trail in Midtown Carmel so the area is very nice, you can literally seat and enjoy the views of the city. They have nice staff, nice food, good drinks, good area, they close usually until midnight so is pretty cool.

Had an amazing time. Lija and Melissa are amazing bartenders, but the whole staff is super friendly (I couldn’t possibly name everyone), that really provided not only great service, but a great experience. I would recommend to anyone to go visit the Goat and enjoy the whole experience.

I had the best time at The Goat while I was waiting for my friend. Mel was our bartender and she is so sweet and attentive with my multiple requests for ice and tajin. Love her energy and super excited to come back.

Hands down the best bar in Carmel. The owners have really built a great atmosphere to hang out right on the Monon. Excellent place to grab a cold beer after a run, grab a drink & food on date night, or watch an IU football game. If you are visiting Carmel it’s a must stop.
