Known for the world famous Witching Hour Martini, the Ghostbar is a truly unique experience. The Ghostbar is the place to chill with the swanky spirits of Detroit. Located on the mansion’s third floor, we are so excited to welcome you back to The Ghostbar!
Destination for cocktails in a classy, historic space with an ornate wood bar & antique decor.

Tried the Ghost Bar for the first time the end of Dec on a Sunday evening. Drinks good, food good but it was completely full and the bartender was trying to make all the drinks and serve all the tables. He was stressed and forgetful and seemed ready to lose it. So the ambience and story telling about the bar’s history that we read about in other reviews, of course never happened. He looked thrilled at 8pm when he told us they were closed for the evening.
Skip forward to this afternoon. Four of us came from Windsor again and had 2 friends meet us from Michigan. As we walked in to find seats the place was almost already full and it was only 4:15pm. When another table asked to order food, the bartender said “No we are not serving food tonight, only drinks.” Most of the other tables started looking at each other and complaining. I asked the bartender if he was serious and he said yes, and said he was only a lonely bartender, nothing he could do. (And once again, he wax the only staff member for the whole bar.)I went down to speak with the manager who spoke to me in a completely patronizing manner. I asked why they wouldn’t have posted this online, on the front door or even had the hostess tell people as they came in. Her attitude was we don’t have to, it’s Valentines weekend and we are too busy. Funny, the restaurant looked dead at that point. No offer to try and fix the problem, no apology for the non advertising that no one could order food and just a disgusting smile and we appreciate y’all. Whatever. When I walked back up to tell the other 5 people we were leaving, the bartender was on the phone asking the manager to come up and deal with all the people who were complaining about not being able to order food and the fact that they were not telling anyone this. It’s also very irresponsible of a bar to serve guests alcohol after alcohol but not offer them any type of food service. I guess they want people wasted. Pathetic situation at a place that tries to portray themselves as luxury and refined. Horrible service and even more incredibly rude and unprofessional manager. Seems like this business needs to hire or staff more employees and find a new manager. Shame on you @The Whitney!

Arrived 4:30 on a Sunday prior to going to the Fisher. They had only one server for entire bar and extra seating area and he was also the bartender and the place was full. My food arrived quickly. My friends food arrived 40 minutes later . Others around us were having similar experiences. The mgr was forced to help out by another customer but things really didn’t improve much. I had to walk up to the bar to get someone to cash me out. We easily could have left without paying. This was our first time there. So disappointing

Beautiful bar located on the 3rd floor. It’s small but well maintained. Vibes and drinks were great. A bit pricey, but you get live music and awesome ambiance!

We were visiting from South Carolina and as a Whitney, we HAD to stop while here. And WOW! The inside and out was so mesmerizing! We were going for dinner but canceled -only bc we ate too much pizza earlier. But we really wanted to check the place out, so we went to the bar on the 3rd floor instead. We were not disappointed at all! From the moment you walk In the door, the hospitality is warm and inviting. Greeted w a live piano player by the fireplace, the stairwell reminded me of the titanic (I was there!!) jk. But the building has this extremely original and vintage style. Can’t wait to come back one day from the south! Our bartender, Jordan, was so chill, talkative, busting his a $$, was running around the place, and still kept a great attitude w a conversation. He was incredible! I bartend at a cocktail bar and felt like I suck compared to him lol. We can’t wait to come back one day

Maybe my expectations was set a little too high, but at best this place besides the surroundings and the service I got from Samantha while I was waiting for the rest of the group I was meeting, it was average at best. Yes, the leader of the group didn’t let them know a group of 8 was coming, but for the bar you didn’t need reservations ( good idea for this type of place) but once the group got there, service was almost a after thought. Once she took the group drink orders and I said I would just be having a dessert, she stopped back only to drop off drinks and one other check. I had to tell her I was waiting to order carrot cake and it took so long to get it. She even brought my bill with the cake like it was a bother to be serving a group of regular people. Never asked me if I wanted something else to drink. I had to flag her down to box my carrot cake, which wasn’t impressive since I have had much better many other places. As we left, no staff wished us a good night. While we were dressed none too fancy, you would expect better service. I was greeted and treated well when I walked in, but I was in business casual unlike the rest of the group. Service went down hill from there. Might not be back because of that.

I loved coming here! This was the highlight of my trip to Detroit! An old Mansioned, turned to a hospice house, foreclosed on, and then becomes a restaurant! The story of this house is really something to be hold. If you go you must make your way to the top floor for the tour. Because me and my party were all from out of town our tour guide gave us a bit about the history of Detroit on top of the history of the house. There’s definitely something extra about this haunted mansion!

The mythical atmosphere alone is worth a visit.
After a second visit to the Ghost Bar, it has now become a GO TO Detroit destination.
The staff is exceptional. The talented piano player has a great attitude and is a lot of fun.
Strongly suggest the stuffed portobello mushroom appetizer.

Very beautiful and surprisingly chill bar inside the Whitney mansion! The drinks are on the pricey side, but they are worth the price! I would suggest The Witching Hour if you like vodka. Even though The Whitney is a very formal restaurant, the bar is informal but in a very classy environment. If you’re looking for a great drinking experience in a place that makes you feel like you’ve gone back in time, this is the place to go! I’ll definitely be coming back.

Ghost bar on the third floor definitely worth a visit! Came in for a quick drink with a group after a birthday. Really cool atmosphere and vibe. There was even a live piano player who took our requests for songs. They have some specialty cocktails on the menu and otherwise a full bar – I ordered an Aperol Spritz and it was perfect! Will be back, hopefully for a ghost tour!
