This place represents the greatness of Texas bbq. You can go to a joint with accolades out the wazoo and waits to match. And you can find a place kinda in the middle of not much on the side of the road that blows your mind. Might be the best smoked sausage I’ve ever had. Great flavor on the brisket. Stellar ribs. Will be back.

Brisket was solid, fat was rendered could use more salt. Was pretty quick get my food. Cheesy potatoes had a like a nacho cheese it was bad but something I haven’t had before. Good prices. I paid 12 dollars for a 1/4lb brisket and a 8oz side of potato’s. Which is perfect for me. Homemade bread was nice. And the onions could’ve been pickled or white onions. I’m not a huge fan of the circle non pickled red onions. I’d recommend this place again and will come back.

Got there about 45 min before close. Was able to get the last bit of turkey and a jalapeno popper. Turkey was moist and done quite nicely. Beans were lacking seasoning and nothing to write home about Mac and cheese was a gloopy cheesy mess of over cooked noodles. Overall it was just ok for the 25$ spent.

I have been wanting to try this place and when I think about it it isn’t open. Well this morning I saw their Facebook post that they were open and since I was out already I headed that way. I was so excited to try the bbq . It’s a good truck with a covered pavilion. Cute area. Picnic tables . We ordered the 2 of the 3 meat plate. Brisket, sausage, and pork ribs. It comes with 2 sides so we chose the beans and Mac n cheese. Everything was delicious! My favorite was the Mac n cheese!!!! The cheese sauce is so good! The meat was tender. BBQ sauce good. The bread slices we got were homemade. I’m so glad it was delicious. Prices are good too!!!

The G Wagon has the absolute best bbq I’ve ever had! This is a G Spud and weighs in between 3-4 pounds, enough for 2 people! The brisket is so savory and full of flavor, tender, and literally melts in your mouth!
We also love the turkey, nachos, sausage and ribs! The sides are always so fresh and delish!
The experience you receive when you eat at The G Wagon is exceptional!
There is absolutely no better bbq than The G Wagon!

SIDES MATTER. I tried 3 different items here, loaded potato. Mac n cheese with brisket and 2 meats (brisket & turkey) & 2 sides cheesy potatoes and potato salad. This was almost inedible. The cheese that is used on everything tastes like canned cheese, which is a taste I cant explain. The baked potato was gooped up with it, I could taste meat or the potato. The brisket had no flavor and just crumbled. It had no texture. The potato salad was just cubed potatoes with mayo. This was just the worst 45.00 I’ve ever spent.

Dropped in here recently because we really love good barbecue and I’d heard rumblings.
Turned out to be beyond our expectations!
We’ve sampled plenty of food trailer barbecue and been disappointed more often than not. G Wagon did not disappoint! We got a pound of brisket and some beans. The brisket was smoked to perfection with flavor throughout. It was fork tender and looked as good as it smelled and tasted. It was adorned with a nice red smoke ring and was cloaked in a delicious, peppery bark. It looked like barbecue ought to look! We’ve already been back several times and each round was just as good as the first! You definitely want to give The G Wagon a try! They now have a permanent location at 4270 East FM 436 in Academy, TX. It’s about a half mile behind the Cefco Convenience Store at Academy’s traffic light. As of 12/22/2023, Google maps has not yet corrected the location from the previous site.
