We have no boundaries, we have not put ourselves in the proverbial box, we are free to create We are The Funky Taco. We create food within a “farm to funky fare” framework. Our emphasis is on Asian, Indian, Mexican, and Americana ethnicities / styles of food. We have options for everyone, the carnivore, the omnivore, the vegetarian, the vegan. We love and think about you all. We established in April of 2013 at the Boise Farmers Market where we debuted our converted 1961 Airstream into a class IV mobile kitchen. We have taken our passion for community, unique and funky fare, art, and live music to the heart of Downtown Boise on 8th street, Boise’s “restaurant row”. Our goal is simple, to leave you wanting more.

Atmosphere was great! Live music on a Saturday night wasn’t too loud. Fast service. We loved the Tazon (vegan style) best out of the three dishes. The tacos are only one each, so while tasty
didn’t have the same value. As we tried pretty much all the vegan options, I hope they will add more so we can enjoy some variety.

I was walking down 8th Street and came across the Funky Taco sign and couldn’t resist feeding my taco addiction. I walked into the place blind, willing to give it a try without any pre-conceived ideas and I was glad I gave it a try.
I followed the waitresses recommendation and ordered the Piggy Stardust & Macho Tacos. The tacos appeared pretty quick and looked great. And I’m happy to report the flavors lived up to the hype.
Each taco had a unique flavor that filled my tastebuds with delight. The meat was tender and juicy and the pickled red onion on the Piggy Stardust was a fantastic addition to the taste.
Overall, a great first experience at The Funky Taco and I look forward to my next opportunity to try some of the other tacos on the menu.

Excellent. My Compliments to the chefs. I don’t have a dairy or gluten allergy but my Wife does. They were able to turn anything on the menu into a vegan or gluten free meal. The funky burrito, macho taco, and mango rice dessert were absolutely top notch. All the ingredients, flavors, and cooking blend together so well that you wont forget it. Best taco place I’ve been to hands down.

We were so excited to try this place given the location and previous reviews… unfortunately, we were very disappointed on multiple grunts. We ordered drinks and two of our three drinks came after our food got there after having to remind the waiter about them. We had to tell the waiter what we ordered twice as he didn’t remember. We ordered street tacos as one of our entrees and had asked for some cabbage to go on top given there was hardly any toppings on them. The cabbage didn’t get delivered until after my daughter had already finished all three tacos (and she’s not a fast eater)… the waiter said, I guess you probably don’t want this anymore… He was nice enough but we were very disappointed after seeing what great reviews the place had gotten on Google. Ultimately the food we all got had potential but it was cold, overcooked and again not delivered timely or in the typical order you would expect (getting our soda and beer after the food was already delivered). Overall very disappointed and would not recommend.

We had a fantastic experience at The Funky Taco in downtown Boise! The atmosphere was super chill and inviting and the creative taco concoctions were unreal! Shredded carrots on my nachos? Yes please! And be sure to check out the stuffed churros for dessert! We were in town from Puyallup WA, and now hoping to see a Tacoma location someday maybe???

The best tacos in town! All the flavours are on point, we had delivery several times while in hospital which really saved our tastebuds to get such delicious food that stayed yummy delivered! The corn chips are one of the best and we finally got a chance to dine in on discharge. All the dishes are fantastic with lots of fresh veg and herbs. We tried most of the tacos on the menu, both of the Nachos, the mushroom Birria and Brisket Quesidilla. Love the fusion of Asian flavours. Really cute interior for dine in and awesome friendly team. Fun live music on Saturday. Food was unique and delicious. Had a mango coconut rice dessert too that was unique and delicious. It’s not mango sticky rice, but similar vibes, so if you like that types of dessert I think you’ll dig it.
