Our family, the Navarretes, had an absolutely wonderful dinner at The Funky Monkey in Mount Dora! The star of the show was, without a doubt, the pork fried rice. It was incredibly flavorful, with the perfect savory notes and delightful little bits of pork in every “Mini Size Funky Funny,” which was the perfect, playful start to the meal. The real highlight, however, was our waiter. Julia didn’t just serve us; she shared her passion, teaching us about the dishes and the ingredients with such genuine enthusiasm that it made the whole experience even more special. It was a night of great food and wonderful memories for the entire Navarrete family. We can’t wait to come back

What a nice surprise to find that our favorite pub in Mt Dora (The Frog and Monkey) has an equally fun and flavorsome sister upstairs at the Funky Monkey. You have not experienced chicken wings until you try their version. So yummy. I’m still thinking about them several weeks later. We sat at the bar and the bartenders/servers were very efficient and attentive. Also a good selection of drinks and appetizers. The only slight downside was that the music was rather loud. The singer was great, but the sound was just too much for such a small space. Nonetheless, we will be back.

We came in to escape the rain just based on the pictures outside of some delicious looking ramen. Our server Doug was great. The food was even better than I expected especially for the price. It’s a bargain the ramen was perfect in every way, broth, noodles pork were 10/10. Also had a steak fried medium rare. Wow they hit it out of the park on that one too. Definitely recommend stopping in if you’re in Mt Dora.

Had a great time. Live music by Paul. It made for an amazing late night snack and drinks. Small palce. We loved the food. Ramen and eggs rolls. Recommend for a quick Topas style and drinks.

The food was really, really good. Everything was super tasty. As an FYI, the food is served tapas style and thus may not come out at the same time as everyone w/n your party. The cocktails were really tasty as well though they came out far after our food.
We went on a Saturday which was nice as there was live music.

This place has the best wings and ramen! I got the short rib ramen. Huge bowl, enough for 2 to share. The meat and noodles were amazing . My husband got the wing. They were nice and meaty and tasted heavenly. Great selection of wines and cocktails. There were also a few beers on draft. Hubby got a great hazy IPA. The whole staff was amazing. So friendly and great knowledge of the menu. We sat at the bar and had a wonderful time. Highly recommend this place.

Stopped for lunch 6/30 first time
We shared the waygu sliders & pork fried rice. Both were delicious. Sliders were on a pretzel bun which was a lot of bun for the size of the sliders, but really good seasoning/taste, they are served with fries. Pork fried rice was really nice…had a few beans, carrots, green onions etc mixed in, very generous portion! Fair prices.
Bartender working (I can’t remember her name) was so sweet & personable & professional! Attended to all needs.
Located in the Renaissance building third floor. Fun fact, the owners of Funky Monkey also own Frog & Monkey in the basement of sane building which we’ve eaten at several times & it’s always delicious.

went on a Saturday night we didn’t get drinks but we did enjoy the food it was amazing highly recommend. live music and still nice chill hang out very relaxed. we had 7 in our group.

Absolutely amazing! We went for a Sunday morning brunch, we did not do all you can glest but shared a few dishes between my husband & our 2 kids (5 & 14 ). Stave was super friendly, food was delicious & bottomless mimosas did not disappoint. Ours glasses were filled once they were empty! We will definitely be back; love the atmosphere cute 2nd story restaurant above shops!

Located upstairs we were greeted and seated quickly, and we both decided on three ribs ramen…I had to try it, and it was just as impressive as it’s presentation. Our only complaint was the rib meat was too fatty, but the broth and other ingredients were delicious.
We also ordered the baria egg rolls which street also satisfying. Great crunch, and presentation.
