We recently came across The Frothy Cup after a couple of repeat visits to nearby Black Hawk. We were honestly getting a bit tired of the usual Starbucks options inside the casinos, so we went looking for a local neighborhood spot instead.
While we weren’t able to find anything worth writing home about right in Black Hawk, we stumbled across this location and were really impressed. The level of service was great, they have a solid variety of coffee options, and even the bakery items available were a nice surprise. Definitely a refreshing change of pace!

This place is a local institution! We’ve been coming to The Frothy Cup for years after adventures in the mountains when headed back down to the front range. It never disappoints. Wonderful seasonal drinks that are simply soul-nourishing! A quick note for my fellow vegans: they have plant milks but no vegan food options (yet).

Absolutely loved their iced Cafe latte & hot Mocha coffee. Bagels were fresh. We ordered Parmesan bagel with cream spread as well which was 5/5. Their house made Whipped cream is absolutely delicious.

Very cool shop, with tasty coffee, bagels and pastries (and probably something else I didn’t notice). Lots of choices, including some seasonal, lots of people, but a cool vibe and, again, tasted so good!
Also shout out to the lady in the Steelers shirt!

Lovely stop along I-70! Friendly staff and great coffee. I tried the latte with honey and cinnamon and it was not too sweet but great flavor! Would stop here again on my drive into the mountains.

8/10. Unique flavours but all a bit too sweet.
One of a kind flavoured matcha, with a super fruity punch to it, and’s a cherry latte which was yummy but should be treated as a dessert drink. The broccoli cheddar quiche was savoury and light, but surprisingly filling, could use more salt and flavour though.
Staff were friendly and pleasant. Atmosphere is relaxed and laid back. I think this whole town of Idaho Springs felt sleepy with many shops opening only at 11am even on weekdays, astounding!
Come here for unique flavours, probably best after a meal, not before.

5 stars for the amazing service! Coffee is really good and perfect temperature. I got a latte breve style and it’s delicious. The place is clean yet tastefully cluttered. Definitely mountain feel. It snowed earlier so it made an awesome cold snowy coffee experience. 2 girls at the counter were friendly and helpful. Do recommend!

Amazing breakfast burrito, HOME MADE pastries, and even kinder staff. Our daughter had a spill ( an entire latte ) and they were so so nice about it. Awesome vibes. I’m so glad we found this gem on the way to the airport.

The Frothy Cup in Idaho Springs was the perfect coffee stop during our family day exploring downtown! We were walking through the shops when I spotted their July Specials and had to try the cinnamon stinger latte. It was amazing — smooth espresso, cozy cinnamon flavor, a hint of honey, and oat milk for the perfect creamy finish. So flavorful and not overly sweet!
The shop itself is super cozy and welcoming — the kind of place you want to linger in. The staff was friendly and quick, and everything from the pastries to the drinks felt thoughtfully made. It’s the kind of local coffee shop that just gets it.
If you’re visiting Idaho Springs with your family (or just love great coffee), definitely make a stop here!☕️
