I think it’s time to shine some light on a fairly new local treasure. The ribs had that signature bark, the gator was delicious and seasoned just right, and the Honey chicken thighs were delicious and tender. We had a great time, staff was friendly and without a doubt we will be going back.
For the sides, the greens were incredible, took one bite and immediately knew I was in the right place. The baked beans are unique and flavorful. The cheesy potato’s were a great way to even out the smokey flavors.
I can’t wait to drop back by and try some of their new creations. You can tell a lot of heart and soul is put into the menu here and that can really make or break a sit down joint.
Well done!

Had the Beef Brisket dinner which came with three sides. When it was delivered to the table, I was certain I would have to take some home as all the portions were large, but everything was so tasty I ended up eating it all. The brisket came with a smoky bbq sauce on the side, which I tried, but the brisket was so good by itself that I ate most of it without the sauce. The interior is a bit sparse, especially when comparing it to the old Rembrandt’s, but the new owners have plans to personalize the place as they continue to grow the business.

My brisket was tough. No knife to cut it. I could not eat it. Potato salad was from a grocery store. At least it tasted exactly like what I get from my grocery store. Coleslaw seemed to be from a deli as well. Burgoo was good but since it was the first I have ever had, I cannot tell you how it measures up to others.
My husband ordered meatloaf, coleslaw, potato salad, but because baked beans were not available, he ordered green beans. He said the meatloaf was very good. He received ‘Bayou Stewed Greens’, not green beans. Let the staff know and he received a bowl of green beans. The green beans looked to be the kind you get in a bag get in the freezer section at the grocery store, unnaturally bright green.
Meal could have used some kind of bread- maybe corn muffins to follow the ‘frontier’ theme. No soft drinks available. No lettuce salads on the menu.
Flys were thick, in spite of constantly swatting them away, one landed in my food.
We are always try to support Mom and Pop type businesses. So disappointed here. Hopefully with time they can turn this place around.
$28 brisket + $3 tea was just too much to pay for what I could not eat.
Husband’s meal was less expensive, but over $60 total for two lunches.

My husband and daughter went to eat breakfast at Homestead Kitchen this morning, and they brought me back a French toast and hasbrown casserole for me to eat at home. When I opened my food, it was an egg, breakfast casserole with sausage in it, not the hashbrown casserole he ordered. I am a vegetarian, so I couldn’t eat it. The French toast tasted like meat, like it was cooked in ham juice on the grill. My daughter had the same at the restaurant and said the same thing before I ate mine. He called the restaurant and couldn’t get through. It was a Google number (odd). He called again later, and someone answered and just said “Hello,” not answering like a business. He said he wanted to place a carryout order; they said they don’t do that there and that they were short-staffed. He drove back to the restaurant and put the order in at the hostess stand. He paid $5.99 for the smallest, tiniest container of hashbrown casserole I have ever seen. He explained what happened, and the hostess said that the hashbrown casserole and breakfast casserole were the same button in their point of sale system. Husband said, So your saying its a 50/50 chance we getting the right order!? She said it was probably their mistake, and it was. No apology, and we won’t be back to eat there ever again after that…Poor customer service. He did say the brisket was good, though. I posted a picture of how small the container is of hashbrown casserole. It’s less than 1 inch deep for almost $5.99. It should have been free for us to have to drive back and fix their mistake. Please fix your button on the register.

Top notch everything! Highly recommend the potato salad and the savory collard greens remind me of grandma’s. The owner and cook were fun to talk with; truly kind and informative.

By far one of the worst meals I have ever had, the biscuit was a rewarmed pillsbury biscuit. The casserole tasted of nothing but butter. And their French toast was $16 for two slices. I could get a better faster breakfast at Dennys

We are just in town for the weekend and I was looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. What a horrible choice! The fact we were the only ones in there should have been an omen but it was exactly at opening so I thought that was it. We were charged $22 a person for a breakfast buffet that had cut up hot dogs and cold tater tots on it. They don’t tell you the price you will be charged anywhere beforehand. Nothing on this buffet was hot or edible. Truly a shame because I have heard their BBQ is good. Don’t do breakfast if you aren’t going to do it well.

Good Family owned restaurant. Great place to eat and good food, a nice atmosphere. The restaurant is as comfortable as any other restaurant out there. There are many negative reviews, Come find out for yourself. We had the breakfast buffet, the biscuits were butter glazed, the gravy tasted like homemade, the French toast was tasty, (and not 16 dollars for 2 slices) my sweet tea was as southern as this northern town serves. Try it for yourself.

The breakfast buffet was delicious! We loved all of the meats, the biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and cinnamon rolls. The cheesy hash browns were just ok but we loved everything else. The booth seats were not super comfortable but we know when a restaurant is just getting themselves established they have to make do with what they have. The chairs at the tables looked really comfy though! Can’t wait to go back and try Taco Tuesday!

Our first time eating there, and neither one of us enjoyed our food at all.
I can honestly say that I’ve never complained anywhere I’ve been about my food, but none of it was good.
We paid over $60 for meals that neither one of us could eat.
I ordered the meatloaf, which I wasn’t aware that it was full of barbecue sauce, which I cannot eat. It was also full of grease, running all over the plate which made it unappetizing anyway.
Our waitress was sweet and offered to bring me something else in its place so I chose the smoked sausage. The sausage was basically just a 3 inch cut of Eckrich smoked sausage, browned on each side. Definitely not worth the 20 bucks that the meatloaf was priced in exchange for a bit of sausage.
The hash brown casserole tasted like it had been reheated or freezer burnt and the baked beans were mushy.
Definitely was not satisfied, however, our server was a very sweet young lady.
