Social Profile:

A speakeasy bar and restaurant reborn in a 220 year old hotel in downtown Ballston Spa serving up fine food and crafted cocktails. The Front Street Social Club boasts cravable American Cuisine with a Latin twist including local craft beers, amazing cocktails, and an impressive list of whiskeys and Tequila. The menu is certainly something to experience featuring an array of small and big plates and hands down, one of the best burgers you’ll ever experience called The Fronkenburger.

So this place is super cool! It has a great bar, a great atmosphere, and great service! My wife and I arrived yesterday and were promptly seated and our drink orders were taken. We then put food in pretty quickly. We ordered the cherry glazed shrimp, the nachos, the street corn, and the sweet potato fries. We’ll start at the beginning. First off the drinks were fantastic! The bartender really knows what he’s doing, that’s for sure! Ask for the food, it’s a bit of a different story. So for the most part, everything had the potential to be really good. The only thing that everything was locking was intensity of flavor. Everything was bland and needed salt and seasoning. The shrimp were cooked well and had a nice red cherry glaze and the salad around. It was kind of a cabbagey mixture. It reminded us both of the inside of a egg roll you get at a Chinese restaurant. Kind of an Asian flavor. The street corn came with two roughly 4-in pieces of corn that were lightly deep fried in something but again lacked flavor . Once I added more salt than I thought I would need to, it tasted okay. But would have been better if the salt was incorporated when cooked. Same with the sweet potato fries. They were well cooked but had a lot more sugar than salt. I really wish they had had a good Melba sauce to go with it. The ranch sauce they provided was actually pretty good but I’m a Melba guy through and through. And finally the nachos. Had a great sauce on top but I wish I had more. The meat was perfectly cooked but again unseasoned. It seems to be a common theme up here in the north with blander food. But it’s an easy thing to fix! We ordered a second round of drinks at this point which also were fantastic. My wife got the 007 vodka gin martini and I got the pain killer. Very well made and high quality! The atmosphere in this place is awesome, we will definitely be back but when we order food we’ll definitely have to specify to have it well seasoned.

Appetizers and dinner were Very Very good. So were the cocktails. Simple well drinks during Happy Hour were $6 (Jim Beam is their well whiskey). Most cocktails were $13-16. I asked for a whiskey menu. They didn’t have one, but they had a broad selection behind the bar. I saw a scotch I like, so I got a Rob Roy (off their menu) with Oban 14. I shoulda asked the price first… My cocktail paid for almost a half bottle of Oban 14. It was a properly made Manhattan/Rob Roy, and when I asked, they were polite about it, but sheez! $35. (And they felt they undercharged me. I think they need to re-examine their whiskey supplier’s prices.)

Great space and ambiance was great, but the food had no flavor at all. Most of the table was unhappy with their food. The service wasn’t bad.

Normally I don’t leave reviews. I’ve been here a few times but in awhile. The new bartender reminded me why I enjoyed going. Great atmosphere, amazing food, and awesome drinks. All of the staff were friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be going back and recommending to everyone I know.

The food and drinks were all amazing, everyone in our party enjoyed what they got. I got the pork tacos which were delicious and flavorful. We got the nachos and sweet potato fries as an appetizer and they were both very good. The sweet potato fries are unlike any we have had before. You have to get them to see for yourself!

Stopped in here since we were staying in the medbury, seated quickly the bartender immediately greeted us and asked about drinks. I had the old fashioned. First for me as usually do not get these kind of drinks. It was pretty good. I got the panko Mac and cheese which was good also. It was served up hot and very fast. We do plan to go to the medbury again and I will be going back to the front street social.

I just went this Saturday with my significant other. Second time. Everything was great until I got my check and was in disbelief that I was charged $22.00 for each of my Martinis!!! I eat out often, and at many very good restaurants. I have paid as high as $16.00. The norm is $14 or $15. This was an absolute rip off! Too many great restaurants to choose from. I won’t be back to The Front Steet Social Club!

The good: The drinks were amazing. Great flavor profiles and each drink was meticulously hand crafted with skill. My partner and I really enjoyed the drinks. We each had one and shared a 3rd.
