Having been impressed by the restaurant next door but with a baby making going there a challenge, we booked in for a Valentine’s afternoon tea this afternoon.
Absolutely excellent – it was really well balanced and both sweet and savoury elements were delicious. We usually ignore afternoon teas as they tend to feel poor value compared to a good lunch out, but this one we walked away from really feeling we’d had our money worth.
Service was also excellent, and we really appreciated you could try a few different teas and swap to coffee. I’d absolutely go back.
I’d just note that you can’t tip on card despite trying to, so bring some cash if you’d like to – unfortunately I had not despite feeling service merited it.

The warmest of welcomes from Roberto and the team. High quality baked goods, fresh salads, good coffee and naughty patisserie to take home for later. The perfect local pitstop. Cheers!

Adorable little cafe in Surbiton. Friendliest service and great lunch options. Their salads are delicious and while they are a bit on the expensive side, the quality and amount they serve you completely justifies the price.
Their drinks and pastries are also great.

“tarte tropezienne” what a disaster! a cheap attempt in terms of quality but not cheap in terms of the price paid. a failed imitation, a culinary failure that wants to be posh but is not at all. a scone from waitrose is much better. no connection with France and the wonderful dessert. However, the staff is very polite and helpful, bravo!

The wholegrain breads at The French Tarte are genuinely very good, I buy bread from here quite often, and I also really enjoy their baguettes.
The only downside for me was the chai latte, which was quite sweet. I would have preferred a less sweet or sugar-free option, or at least a note mentioning that it’s on the sweeter side.
Overall, it’s a great bakery with excellent bread, and I’ll definitely keep coming back.

I wish I could give more stars for the service here. I booked the French tarte afternoon tea for my mum’s birthday in august, and the chef carefully curated alternatives to cater to my mum’s nut allergy. We were made to feel so comfortable, the service was the best and it felt as though our waiter could not do enough! We were also encouraged to take our time and enjoy every bite. The flavours were amazing and the homemade jam was so good! Will definitely be returning.

Excellent Afternoon Tea! Impressive service! The savouries and sweets were all amazing! The savoury and sweet tarts were amazing (the tart base was thin and crunchy ❤️) and the sandwich was delicious. The desserts had exceptional flavours. The staff were very nice and attentive. They explained the food very well. The scones were warm and fresh. Overall, their afternoon tea offering is very worth the price compared to other very expensive ones in London.

Great location, friendly service and amazing food! We stopped by on Sunday around 2pm. It was easy to find a table. We had vegetable quiche, pesto mozzarella baguette and pear almond tarte Highly recommend the tarte!

Coffee and food are consistently great. The team have helped us mark and celebrate some really special occasions, and they’re always warm and friendly. There is a small indoor seating area, so larger groups or those with specific spacing/accessibility needs may want to keep that in mind — but it’s absolutely worth a visit!
