Reviews
The concept of your restaurant is excellent, and I truly hope you can refine some aspects to match the expectations it sets. Here are a few thoughts:
Service: The service was slower than anticipated. With a bit more efficiency, the experience could be significantly enhanced.
Food:
The artichoke dip was delicious and a highlight of the meal.
Unfortunately, the filet fell short. It was overly salty and lacked tenderness.
The cheesecake was underwhelming. It was dense and seemed as though it had just come out of the freezer, which affected the overall dessert experience.
Ambiance: The lighting in the dining area was quite bright, which detracted from the atmosphere. Consider dimming the lights to create a more welcoming and relaxed vibe.
Thank you for taking the time to consider this feedback. I genuinely believe in your concept and hope these suggestions are helpful in enhancing the overall dining experience. I look forward to seeing the improvements on my next visit!
I’ll start with the decor. It is very basic, I think they were going for rustic, but it just looks plain and not like a high-end steakhouse at all. There is metal sheeting on the wall, lots of hanging bulbs that flickered the entire meal. Not sure if that is an electrical issue or what, but it was really strange.
It was very warm inside, they had a little AC unit blowing in the corner, but we were all, sweating by the end of the meal. There was really no decor on the wall, being an interior designer. That is my first thing I’m going to observe and was really underwhelmed with their aesthetic choices. If it’s a high-end steakhouse that they are looking for, they definitely need to rebrand and revise in my opinion.
We were seated promptly and the server was friendly enough. The owner did stop by and welcome us, nice guy. I understand that they’ve been open for about six weeks and have made some changes based on client reviews, and yelp certainly had more negative reviews than Google I am seeing after the fact.
I got the salmon for dinner, Caesar salad and asparagus for the side. The salmon was tasty enough, the asparagus was overcooked. My friend got the pecan crusted chicken, I tried a piece and it was really bland. She got a Caesar salad as well and a side of green beans.
I would suggest offering a lower price steak option, reconfiguring the tables and putting in a stronger AC unit to facilitate the space and doing some thing about all of that glaring Sheetmetal. Add some decor and art, add some soundproofing, music and address the flickering lights.
I’m hoping that they can tweak and become successful, the area definitely needs a high-end presence, and would probably pay it if the ambience and food warrants it. But my experience was only a 3 star currently, sad to say.
They definitely have some things to work on and I hope this honest review will help them work on the areas that need improvement but be encouraged by the things they are doing right. We will give them a second chance due to the great tasting food.
Now… the star of the show is their ribeye. I have consumed high end steak houses all over the country and this is on my top 10 list easily.
Service is also always wonderful, everyone is very welcoming, professional and attentive. We will definitely continue to visit this gem in our town!
We started with the crab cake appetizer, and let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious! The flavors were perfectly balanced, and it was clear that quality ingredients were used. I highly recommend it if you’re looking for a tasty starter.
Now, let’s talk about the main event – The Forge Elevated burger! I can confidently say it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Juicy, flavorful 8oz Akaushi Wagyu patty and cooked to perfection, it’s a must-try for anyone who appreciates a great burger.
Although we did experience a longer wait due to a large party in the restaurant, the staff was incredibly kind and attentive. They kept us informed about the delay and made sure we felt valued as customers. It’s always nice to see a team that cares about their guests’ experience.
Overall, Forge 1912 is a fantastic addition to Celina’s dining scene. With great food and attentive service, I can’t wait to return and explore more of their menu!
Pros:
-Easy reservation system
-Parking is easy
-Staff was friendly
-The menu is very easy to understand with easy descriptions.
-Seemed like good quality beef, but a little over salted (8oz Filet Wagyu) 9/10
-Mac was very very good 10/10
Not cons, but the underwhelming:
-We didn’t expect the building to be 1 or 2 big rooms. The echo was very loud and even though we had a reservation we went ahead and sat at three bar. The partition helped some if you are in the bar.
-The build out didn’t seem to match their online marketing. Online it appears much more high end.(Personal opinion-Much more casual than the website presents.)
-The bar area has 0 character. Literally nothing on the walls (hopefully temporary given its recency) and the concrete bar top seems too wide in depth for the staff to reach patrons.
-We are not overly large people and the bar stools were very unstable and felt like they would collapse at any moment.
-Were the steak fries were previously frozen? Ours were not cooked through all the way when we received them.
-Baked potato also not cooked all the way and was cold.
Overall, we are grateful you all have brought a different and good option to Downtown Celina and will definitely be giving it one more try.
