You can debate the authenticity of WWE wrestling but the food at The Flying Elbow is 100% real.

Hot and delicious, the hamburgers and hotdogs are tailored to your liking and the mouth-watering sides are fresh and scrumptious. The restaurant takes you back to the Hulk Hogan wrestling days, with staff who are true ‘Little Hulkamaniacs.’ I will definitely go back for the great food and atmosphere.

Let me tell ya something Brother!! Whatcha going to do when the best version of a Big Mac comes down on you?!? “The Vinnie” puts a McDs burger in a sleeper hold & unable to tap out. As a WWF kid, this place is a gem with tons of great food & their beer selection is ! NWO for Life!!

Wonderful surprise. First time visitors and we enjoyed all the parts. Ordered the pulled pork sandwich but we got it on fries instead and added slaw. Delicious!

I’ve been wanting to try this place since my buddy told me about it a year ago.

Yesterday was the day.

The food is excellent and made to order.

My dad got the Cowboy Bob, mom got the BBQ Pulled Pork, my wife and sister got the Brisco, and I had George The Animal.

No complaints. We were all stuffed by the time we left.

The onion rings are crunchy, not soggy like a lot of places.

Love the wrestling decor too.

Definitely a must-stop when you come to Matshalltown.

They only get 4 stars overall cuz they offer no discount to military… and the Iowa Veteran’s Home is across the freaking street.

Bad form Flying Elbow… bad form.

We walked in and this place is amazing! The wrestling decor was perfect, the inside was super clean and the atmosphere was fun. We were seated and walked up to order and Liz helped us and she knew the menu and made great recommendations. We got the Jabroni for a burger this is cheddar cheese, pineapple sweet corn relish, Cheddar Ruffles, sweet corn mayo, The People’s BBQ sauce & green onion. We skipped the green onion. Well seasoned burger with amazing flavors. Bun held up nicely with all those ingredients. Now we love hot dogs and any item on the menu can be made into a burger or hotdog. For hotdogs we got the The Nature Boy which is Asian peanut sauce, pickled red cabbage, sweet chili Doritos, banana peppers! Omg this is one of my top two hotdogs ever. We also got the Punk, which is neon green relish, pickle spear, sport peppers, red onion, diced roma tomato, mustard & celery salt. This is basically a Chicago dog done perfectly which is my favorite hotdog! As a side we got the Mr. Mac’Man which Mac n’ cheese, and flaming hot Cheetos on top of fries. Our guest got the Brisco which was voted the 2024 customer favorite. From start to finish The Flying Elbow is a solid 5. Thank you Liz for chatting with us and your recommendations. My wife and I do food road trips across the country and the world. This place is one of our favorites.

My family and I frequent here pretty often. Probably because we live so close and just walk, so the convenience for us if awesome! We’re also just lucky that this place is so close to us! Sometimes it’s a bit too crowded, but that’s because this place is so good!

You do have to wait for your food a bit longer than other places because they are making it fresh to order. So if you’re going to complain about how long it takes eat somewhere else; but I’m telling you this place is worth the wait!

I do also wish that they had “meals” instead of ordering everything separately, if you haven’t eaten there before I imagine it’s confusing…but it’s also not that big of a deal. I also love the diversity of the food, you can get the same order so many different ways!

The girl at the counter wasn’t super helpful, but hey, the food was fantastic. I wanted to try all their sides! The slaw and Mac and cheese were excellent and unique. Never had anything like either of them. The cheese balls were ok. The ranch was fantastic! My entree was a hot dog. It was damn good. Overall, my 90 minute trek was well worth it!!

high-energy professional wrestling theme and multiple Iowa’s Best Burger awards. It’s loud, colorful, and fun. The walls are covered in wrestling memorabilia, and matches are often playing on the TVs. It’s perfect for a casual lunch or a high-energy dinner with friends. If you want the undisputed heavyweight champion of burgers in Iowa, this is the place. Get the Vader Tots and prepare for a flavor slam.

What a cool place!
Great Pulled Pork and Burger Combos!
The Piper’s Pit was an awesome burger with shaved ham, swiss cheese, chico bbq, pickled red onions, and dill pickle
The Classic Pulled Pork was ordered “loaded” served over fries with bbq sauce and pickles.
The 3:16 Chili was very good (could’ve been a bit more) and the Street Corn Salad was different…good but just different.
Didn’t realize it until afterwards that there is an option to get larger sized side dishes….next time it’ll be a LARGE chili.

Awesome visit!
The Onion Rings started off strong at the bell and the Vader Tots were a surprise out of nowhere like a chair to the back of the head! Potato and Cheesy goodness inside and a crunchy exterior…the ketchup served with them was mixed with a hint of bbq sauce mixed in.
The Brisco Burger was very tasty with the Applewood Smoked Bacon adding its flavor to the mix but The Vinnie with it’s two huge guns of meat with the 1001 Salad Dressing was too much!!
What a great time and place you folks here in Marshalltown have to eat at!

Third visit…
A Double Brisco Burger for me and the Pulled Pork Loaded version for Terri.
I’m going to go back and forth between the Vinnie and the Brisco Burger…they’re both great burgers!
The Vader Tots are the bomb and I ordered the Street Corn Salad again…I like it but next time down it’ll be the 3:16 Chili again.

Another stop 8-31-24
The George the Animal Burger and Pulled Pork with Loaded Fries topped the billing with Vader Tots and Sweet Corn Salad for warmup acts…delicious as always and quick service!

Decided that it had been too long since we’d been down for great burgers so off we went!
Ordered up The Vinnie and the Real American Burger with a corn salad, fries, and Vader Tots as sides.
Main Event greatness yet again as the food and service were top notch.
The Vinnie Burger is two patties, 1001 Island Sauce, American Cheese, Shredded Cheese, Grilled Minced Onions, and Dill Pickles….one of my favorites.
The Real American Burger (ordered the double) consisted of two patties, American Cheese, Dill Pickles, Grilled Minced Onions and Ketchup and Mustard.
Fries and Sweet Corn Salad did not disappoint and the Vader Tots just need to be experienced.

When we stopped by last week I didn’t know until just before our order was served that there was a “Facebook Special” of sorts available called The King of the Ring Burger which features Korean BBQ and slaw…now the burgers we had were great but I knew I’d have to come back soon and try this one!
Our server said that they could probably make one on our next visit if we asked for one.
So…upon heading up to the counter to order I was very apprehensive about the chances. I ordered the Mrs All American Burger with bacon on Texas Toast and onion rings before asking the question if it was possible to get The King of the Ring as our server had suggested….the gal turned to look at the cook and asked if it would be possible to order a King of the Ring…one quick glance around his station to verify what he had he gave me the “thumbs up” sign and inside I was yelling “YES!!!!!”.
The burger did not disappoint as the Korean BBQ sauce and the coleslaw combination was as good as the match between the Macho Man and the Ultimate Warrior that was playing on the big screen from a years gone by Summer Slam….
They need to put this one on the permanent menu if you ask me…it’s definitely a contender for the title!

The food and service were very good. No complaints there. My issue was with the man who walked in with a larger gun strapped to his chest. He lingered by the doorway behind my family for what felt like forever. He didn’t order any food, just stood around clearly getting some gross enjoyment from how uncomfortable he was making people. Others were obviously bothered by him as well. When I asked the bartender what the deal was with that man, she said he comes in often and always with his gun. Apparently he claims to be a former police officer or something like that. Why would an establishment ever allow that sort of thing especially in the world we live in today? The whole experience made me so uncomfortable with our young kids there that we will never go back. Please hold higher standards for the safely and comfort of your customers.
