We ordered the Lingcod with sour cabbage flavor, salted egg yolk lobster, oysters, and a variety of BBQ skewers. Portions are very generous and everything tasted fresh, especially the seafood. The sour cabbage Lingcod is the dish that made me fall in love with this place. I keep coming back hoping to relive that first bite, and it never disappoints.
Service can be hard to flag down when it’s busy, but the staff is friendly and quick once they reach you. The space is large and family friendly.
I’ve visited four times now and always leave happy. I will definitely return every time I’m in Vancouver.
Food hit the table really quick and hot. Delicious over all, I especially liked the main fish dish. Squid skewers were tasty but the beef was a bit chewy and very small. I think the best dish was the whole fish and the weakest was the seafood fried rice. They should reconsider using fake crab in thisndish and go for more wok flavour
The real standout for us was the fried rice. It had incredible flavor and that unmistakable wok hay that’s hard to find.
Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality makes it worthwhile. Definitely recommended for seafood lovers looking for bold flavors.
The cost of entry is the cultural barrier, so you either got to muster up the courage to order everything yourself, or bring a Chinese-speaking friend. What you get in return is a feast full of fresh goodies from the ocean that would satisfy even the pickiest of Chinese uncles/aunties, with cooking styles customised across the full flavour spectrum between the spicy/heavy on one end and the light/fragrant on the other.
With all the weird and wonderful crabs, fishes, prawns, squids and shellfish to choose from, it was a surprise to us that the restaurant also served chicken wings and lamb skewer etc. Keep this in mind because it would be a saving grace for the unfortunate few in any dining group who cannot stand seafood.
We had dinner here with friends who visited from out of town, and they loved the variety across a various shared plates we ordered. We had the Stir-fried Sea Conch (large sea snail), the Clam and Loofah Soup, the Crispy Prawns in a rich Egg-Yolk batter, and a Steamed Blue-Cod. The food came in a staggered fashion, which suited us because of the time it takes to fiddle around all the shells and fish bones. Great way to chat and eat with friends.
This restaurant is halfway down Alexandra Road, and is part of Richmond’s lively ‘Eat Street’ food scene. While the shop front and entrance has the unassuming and understated look that is typical of Richmond businesses, trust us, this one is a winner.
