The Fish Man in Richmond has become one of my favorite restaurants in Vancouver. The vibe is lively and packed with local Asian diners, which always gives me confidence in the food. The lighting is warm and bright, and even though the space gets busy, the high ceilings make it easy to have a conversation. The dining area is clean, but the restroom could use improvement.

We ordered the Lingcod with sour cabbage flavor, salted egg yolk lobster, oysters, and a variety of BBQ skewers. Portions are very generous and everything tasted fresh, especially the seafood. The sour cabbage Lingcod is the dish that made me fall in love with this place. I keep coming back hoping to relive that first bite, and it never disappoints.

Service can be hard to flag down when it’s busy, but the staff is friendly and quick once they reach you. The space is large and family friendly.

I’ve visited four times now and always leave happy. I will definitely return every time I’m in Vancouver.

This is a fantastic place for Chinese seafood, particularly the ingredients and cooking. Everything was incredibly fresh and juicy. Seafood should be fresh and less salty with more natural flavours. If you don’t like their cooking style then that’s your problem and you shouldn’t bother with Chinese seafood or Chinese food. The only thing holding it back from a perfect five stars is the service and price. I understand the price considering the location and BC but the service is lacking.

Four of us went for dinner after seeing this as #9 on the list of top Chinese restaurants in Canada. Super busy, lovely room. Not a place to linger over your meal, the helpful staff helped us pick our dishes and explained how it works. Pick your fish, sauce and additions.

Food hit the table really quick and hot. Delicious over all, I especially liked the main fish dish. Squid skewers were tasty but the beef was a bit chewy and very small. I think the best dish was the whole fish and the weakest was the seafood fried rice. They should reconsider using fake crab in thisndish and go for more wok flavour

The fish man pricing is steep. Menu was some what complicated. We asked how much for a particular dish. The lady in purple hair was very rude and offish. She said the fish is like 3lbs x 48$ = 144$ a very expensive fish soup. So we decided to take the other 79$ dish. Anyway after all said and done the fish soup cost 144$ (she did the 3×48$ item) and total bill 220+ tip. Bill is attached. Not a good experience.

Food was delicious with good size portion. Their firsh dishes uses the entire fish and you can choose which type you want. They also have daily specials that have catch of the day on there. Food is really tasty with a balance of flavour and not overly oily. Our server was also quite friendly and checked in often.

This is a very busy and crowded place. They are famous for their seafood in Chinese style and skewers. Quite tasty in its way. They have grilled fish in heavy sauce. Price is reasonable.

If you’re a fan of spicy seafood, Fish Man Restaurant in Richmond is a must-visit! We tried the hot and sour fish soup, which was packed with tender fish and fresh vegetables—full of bold, tangy flavor with a good spicy kick. We originally had our eyes on the scallops, but they were sold out, so we went with the clams in black bean sauce instead. No regrets—they were meaty, flavorful, and well-cooked.

The real standout for us was the fried rice. It had incredible flavor and that unmistakable wok hay that’s hard to find.

Prices are a bit on the higher side, but the quality makes it worthwhile. Definitely recommended for seafood lovers looking for bold flavors.

This seafood spot is a real gem! Open late and full of energy, it has a vibrant atmosphere that makes every visit enjoyable. The ingredients are incredibly fresh, and the dishes are prepared with skill and finesse — clearly the work of a talented chef. To top it all off, the service is friendly and attentive. Highly recommended!

Fresh seafood and flavors very true to asian flavors. If you’re traveling in Vancouver and need a change from western cuisine great place for asian seafood.

British Columbia has great local seafood and this has got to be an experience worth trying because the Chinese approach seafood differently. This restaurant serves meals for the hardcore seafood enthusiasts who do not mind splashing out for dishes sold by weight, and at seasonal catch rates.

The cost of entry is the cultural barrier, so you either got to muster up the courage to order everything yourself, or bring a Chinese-speaking friend. What you get in return is a feast full of fresh goodies from the ocean that would satisfy even the pickiest of Chinese uncles/aunties, with cooking styles customised across the full flavour spectrum between the spicy/heavy on one end and the light/fragrant on the other.

With all the weird and wonderful crabs, fishes, prawns, squids and shellfish to choose from, it was a surprise to us that the restaurant also served chicken wings and lamb skewer etc. Keep this in mind because it would be a saving grace for the unfortunate few in any dining group who cannot stand seafood.

We had dinner here with friends who visited from out of town, and they loved the variety across a various shared plates we ordered. We had the Stir-fried Sea Conch (large sea snail), the Clam and Loofah Soup, the Crispy Prawns in a rich Egg-Yolk batter, and a Steamed Blue-Cod. The food came in a staggered fashion, which suited us because of the time it takes to fiddle around all the shells and fish bones. Great way to chat and eat with friends.

This restaurant is halfway down Alexandra Road, and is part of Richmond’s lively ‘Eat Street’ food scene. While the shop front and entrance has the unassuming and understated look that is typical of Richmond businesses, trust us, this one is a winner.
