Unfortunately not a good experience yesterday, ordered 2 fish I small and 1 regular, and a portion of chips.
The small cod was of such poor quality it went in the bin and we shared the regular haddock which was slightly better, they hadn’t been cooked fresh, I think left over from lunch or longer, the batter was hard and minimal fish inside, it’s a shame because fish king used to be our go to, but sisters fish n chips is far better.
It was more expensive at £17.95 for what we got very disappointed indeed.

Quite possibly the best chip shop in Lincoln!
I’m not usually a fan of chip shops — they have to be exceptional to win me over. The Fish King doesn’t just win, it knocks everyone else out of the water. I’ve tried all the other shops between my home and The Forum, yet I always end up back here.
It’s not just me — my mum and son are equally hooked. When my mum visits from Spain, The Fish King is our mandatory “treat her properly” stop.
I’ve been coming here since the mid-90s, and I can’t imagine ever going anywhere else.
Their chips are golden, crispy, and fresh — none of that sad, soggy, reheated nonsense. No burnt oil taste either, which is a miracle in the chip world. I don’t eat the fish myself, but even just for the chips, it’s worth it.
The shop is clean, the staff are friendly, and you can order ahead online to skip the queue — though honestly, waiting in line for chips is part of the charm.
If you love proper chips, skip the rest — this is the king.

I was once a regular with my Nana when I was small, now years later coming back to find Fish King is still around and the food is just as amazing as I remember it, now sharing it with my own family. Call it silly nostalgia but not only is it good food but its food with a memory. I’d highly recommend this chippy to anyone and hope they continue serving for many years to come. Thank you Fish King.

Fish King absolutely knocks it out of the park every single time. The fish is always perfectly cooked — crisp batter, soft flaky inside — and the chips are proper golden, not soggy or greasy like so many places. Portions are generous, everything’s piping hot, and the staff are genuinely lovely and efficient even when it’s busy.
We used to go to Frydays, but after trying Fish King there’s no going back. You can taste the difference straight away — fresher, cleaner oil, and way better flavour. Easily the best fish and chips around.
If you’re in two minds, don’t be. Go to Fish King. You’ll thank yourself halfway through the first bite.

Absolute joke. Used to be a great go-to chippy, but on our most recent visit it was abysmal – server left our prepared food on a cold counter while waiting for other parts to be cooked, ordered 2 medium fish + 1 large but was given 3 medium, chips were undercooked, forgot to give us a pickled egg, and worst of all the fish tasted stale and we’re *fairly* sure we were given cod, not the haddock we ordered. Maybe they were having a bad night, but all I can say is it’s the second worst fish & chips I’ve ever had. Good afternoon.

Oh my god the burgers are not tiny like other places there huge and cheap and also the chips arnt greasy there crispy and fresh!and the chicken nuggets are proper crispy chicken balls!

Ordered Haddock and chips & curry sauce , via Uber eats. By the time it got to me, it was Stone cold. Curry sauce had a weird mettalic taste. Fish was mainly all Very soggy batter hardly any fish meat. Waste of money. It went in the bin.

Looking forward to my fish super, however I got home to find no chips which meant total disappointment plus the large gravey to go with the chips went straight in the bin, apparently next time I go in I will get free chips woopy sodding do, what an absolute shit service!! and total let down

Great fish and chips!! The batter contains no milk so it’s perfect for anyone with milk intolerance. The staff are really friendly and I get served quickly. The food is delicious and there’s plenty in their portions. I definitely recommend here
