Great little taco shop in downtown Chico. My wife had the fajitas and she says they were the best she’s ever had. Really great service as well. I am not sure that I’ve seen a DIY chips and salsa bar bit La Perla has one here. Outstanding!

Overall, I would come back here. The food was very good and seemed very authentic. I got the number three breakfast burrito and it was massive. I was not expecting this much food, especially for the price that it was which I felt was very reasonable. I love that they have salsa in the corner that you can take to go And peppers service was pretty quick and it seemed pretty clean on the inside. I used the bathroom and that was pretty clean too. Would recommend coming here again, especially for breakfast.

best mexican food in chico by a long shot!
have gone to a this place 50 or so times and has been the most consistently delicious mexican food in chico and probably all of ca if im gonna be honest. super good trimmed beef with no gross fat pieces or anything and they have a whole salsa bar and free chips when you order. i go here every time after a bike ride and take my girlfriend and go with with my dad and family. probably my favorite business in chico as well seems to be very local owned and family operated which i love. only thing is the prices are steep at 3$ a taco but very much worth it in my opinion. i love supporting this business and hope they last for a long time 10/10 would recommend very kind employees aswell

I will share that the salsa bar and the free chips bring this to 5 stars, as well as the fact that the staff are very friendly and accommodating, there is plenty of seating, it is cleanly, and the service is pretty fast. They even brought the food to the table to help us out, which was very nice of them.

My wife and I walked in on a Friday afternoon after seeing this place for over a year, and was assailed by the extensive menu they offered, and then hit with “Sticker Shock” at the prices. I ordered the Deluxe Chicken Nachos…she ordered the #3 special, which was the Steak Enchilada and Ground Beef Taco w/ beans and rice. With 2 large drinks… just under $30. The food arrived fast enough, and we found out why. There was absolutely NO heart/soul/effort put into the food. 75% of the nacho chips were broken bits, chicken was bland, not enough beans, too many jalapeños, the “Guacamole” was bottled, and the sour cream was pure liquid. Her Taco was set into the beans, which made it soggy, and the steak was flavorless. The salsa bar contained more mass-produced salsa, which was plain tasting. The best part of her meal, she says, was the rice…best part of mine was not finishing it! Far, far better…and cheaper, authentic Mexican restaurants in Chico, folks. Bypass this establishment and do your research.

I walked into this place on a whim and was pleasantly surprised. The staff was friendly and helpful with suggestions. I ordered the combo plate with an enchilada and a Chile relleno. When it was served, the food looked even better than the picture on the menu, and it tasted delicious. I also liked their free chips and salsa bar. I’ll be back for sure.

Tried to give this place many chances but it’s gone down hill drastically… for a $16 Pasole to go… this is BS!!! After taking this out there was only half a container of soup left. I’m willing to BET they wouldn’t have served this up in a bowl had I ordered it to dine in… not to mention there’s no FLAVOR in any of these meals. Officially my last time spending my money here. Also a medium side of beans shouldn’t cost $11!!!

ACTUALLY MY FIRST TIME IN CHICO. MY WIFE HAS COME A FEW TIMES TO VISIT MY SON. WE WERE CRAVING SOME MEXICAN FOOD AND COLD CERVEZAS I ORDERED SHRIMP DIABLO PLATE. REAL AUTHENTIC MEXICAN FOOD GREAT FLAVOR AND SUPER COLD BREWS. EVERYONES PLATE HAD EXCELLENT FLAVOR. CLEAN RESTROOMS, THE ONLY THING THE CHIPS WERE HARD GOOD VARIETY OF SALASA’s AT THE SALASA BAR.

I’ve visited La Perla Taqueria a few times now and have had a consistently good experience. Friendly service and delicious, quality mexican cuisine. The restaurant lobby is kept clean tidy and the interior decor is very nice. Great downtown Chico location too!
