⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Hidden Gem That Feels Like Home

Best for: Date nights or catching up with your besties, wine lovers who enjoy discovering unique selections, anyone seeking a cozy neighborhood spot with exceptional hospitality

Food: Freshly baked focaccia made with pure love. The French onion soup focaccia is to die for – those carefully caramelized onions are perfection. You can taste the care in every bite.

Drinks: Eclectic wine selection perfect for adventurous palates. Had their “Almost Red” – sits perfectly between a light pinot and a crisp white, filling a void you didn’t know existed.

Service: The owner is incredibly friendly, patient with all our wine questions, and genuinely hospitable. She even brought us complimentary non-alcoholic bubbles when she sensed our indecision. We stayed way past closing time and never once felt rushed.

Atmosphere: Cozy and intimate – the kind of place that instantly feels like home. Perfect for both romantic dates and girlfriend catch-ups.

This isn’t just a bar – it’s a warm, welcoming space you’ll want to visit every weekend. Cannot recommend enough! ❤️

Chanelle, the owner, is such a joy! Love the vibe of The Fates; very dark academia with some old school punk rock, grungy music. A great selection of drinks and amazing options for small bites. Plus her pup, Haru, is SUCH a sweetheart. Will definitely be coming back for the foccacia!

My absolutely favorite new spot. Extremely welcoming, amazing service and delicious wines. Plus the cutest shop dog! My dogs love to go visit their sweet friend. Every time I walk in I feel like I’m walking into an extremely cool friend’s house with the best wine list around. You instantly feel the love and care the owner has put into the shop.
So happy to have this in the neighborhood and excited to continue tasting all the amazing wines they have to offer. Plus the food is amazing- you have to get the bar mix.

This place and its owner, Chanelle(?), are an absolute delight. This vibrant owner does it all herself, putting together your wine flights according to your individual tastes, preparing tasty Tupperware tray charcuterie boards (the olives are to die for), baking the tastiest focaccias (my mouth is watering thinking about them), and hosts as though you have come to visit her home. No… seriously… she does it all. She has no help. Great little treasure of a place. The back patio is a little oasis. Highly recommended.

The Fates Bread and Bottle Co. is absolutely fantastic! Chanelle, the owner, is so welcoming and friendly – you can tell she truly loves what she does. Her dog, Haru, is the perfect addition to the experience – so sweet and adorable! The atmosphere is cozy, the service is impeccable, and the selection of bread and wine is just as amazing as the people. If you’re looking for a spot with a great vibe and even better hospitality, this is it. Highly recommend!

My partner and I had the absolute joy of eloping at the Fates Bread & Bottle Co this past weekend and I can’t say enough good things about the experience. We had originally planned to have the ceremony outdoors at a park but then an “atmospheric river” rolled through and we were rained out. Chanelle, the incredible owner, came in clutch at the very last moment and welcomed us with open arms. She made our day feel truly special.

From the moment we arrived, she created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. Chanelle has a rare gift for hospitality — she made everything feel effortless, elegant, and deeply personal. Her knowledge of wine is exceptional and you can tell how much care she puts into every detail, from the beautiful space to the locally sourced offerings.

What stands out most, though, is her heart. Chanelle’s commitment to her community shines through in everything she does. It’s clear that the Fates isn’t just a business, it’s a gathering place built with love, intention, and deep respect for local food, wine, and people.

If you’re looking for a place that feels both special and grounded, with an owner who goes above and beyond, the Fates Bread & Bottle Co is it. Thank you, Chanelle, for making our elopement unforgettable!

This is the moodiest, vibiest wine bar in Portland. Come here for the wine and homemade focaccia bread by Chef Chanelle and stay for the nice long chats and cozy ambience. I just recently had the pleasure of hosting a private event here and it was pure magic. Make sure you take some time to get to know Chanelle. She is a true gem of a human and a one of a kind creative chef.
