The food was very good. The ribs were dry and a little overcooked. Our grandson has an egg allergy and it was difficult figuring a meal for him. Kids menu, coloring paper and crayons, large sandy court for volleyball, horseshoes. No changing table in rest room. Really not kid friendly. Pricey.

Met some friends at The Farm Bar and Grille this evening and was NOT disappointed. The menu is vast. Burgers, wings, soups, fajitas, ribs that fall off the bone, so many more entrees, and appetizers. I will go back. My drink was super tasty. Friendly staff. Plenty of parking.

What a hidden gem this place is!! I was looking for a new place to go for my birthday when I stumbled across The Farm Bar & Grille. My husband and I looked online in advance to check out the menu. There were a lot of choices and the prices were reasonable.
We decided to start off with their pulled pork bbq nachos. When the nachos came, we were blown away at how generous of a portion they were. The nachos were loaded with pulled pork as well as tomatoes and onions. Too many times we’ve had nachos where the toppings were skimpy. Not here! My only criticism is that in addition to charging you extra for guacamole or jalapenos if you want them, they do charge $1.95 if you want sour cream. Sorry, but I think that sour cream should be part of the deal. It is anywhere else that we’ve gone. They did give us a generous portion of the sour cream, but still….
The nachos were delicious – probably the best we’ve had. There were so many that we couldn’t finish and wrapped the rest to go. We should’ve stopped there – but we didn’t.
I was in the mood for a burger and so was my husband. A lot of choices. I finally decided on their New England burger. Burger, cheddar, bacon, lettuce, tomato and onion served on a brioche roll. My husband ordered the double, double. Two all beef patties, caramelized onions, cheese. secret sauce with lettuce and tomato also served on a brioche roll. He decided to swap the fries for the onion rings (for an additional charge) so that we could try them. Everything was perfect! The burgers were both cooked to perfection (medium rare), the onion rings and fries were crisp and tasty.
The bluegrass music that they played was pleasant. It could be heard but not so loud that you couldn’t hold a conversation with each other.
The whole experience was very enjoyable. We look forward to going back and trying out some of their other items.

The food was good, however a situation happened that was very mindblowing to witness.

When we arrived at the restraunt there was a black truck with a dog inside. The weather at this point in the year is 21°F and for a dog in a car that is dangerous. We brought this up with the hostess and she brushed it off saying “well it is a dog” which is not an excuse. The manager on duty Charlie told us that this is a regular. They told us they would find the person and let them know.

When we left the restaurant the dog was still in the car, we were in the restraunt for over an hour. At this point we walked back inside and tried to talk to the manager but he walked past us to stand at the bar and ignore us. We let the hostess know again and she dismissed us yet again saying how it’s a dog and how it’s a regular which is no excuse at all.

At this point we were very concerned for the dogs safety so we told them we would leave and call the police. They began to scramble to actually find the person. That person was in the restraunt bar catching up with a friend.

Absolutely disgusting behavior from this staff regarding the safety of an animal because the owner of the dog is a regular.

Third time there. Had the pulled pork nachos, fish and chips with onion rings and baked haddock. All good portions. Haddock was plain with just crackers crumbs. Expected a casserole. Service not as good as we’ve had. Server never asked if we wanted another drink and didn’t ask how everything was until the very end of the meal. Server didn’t add to our loyalty account. Would still go again.

The Farm Bar and Grille is an adorable and somewhat hidden gem in Essex. The building itself is tiny and if I hadn’t come across it on Google maps I’m not sure I would have ever noticed it. I’m so glad I did! The food was wonderfully prepared and the service was really lovely, especially considering there was only one waitress on the floor. *Remember, lots of places are still short-staffed so please be kind!

1) The New England Burger: ME family farm beef, VT cheddar, NH cured bacon, MA baked brioche bun, lettuce, tomato, and red onion.

2) Surf & Turf: BBQ Steak Tips paired with your choice of haddock (baked or fried) or Cajun seared shrimp (I chose fried haddock) and served with mashed potatoes and vegetables.

The portions were just right and there was enough to take home to eat later on for dinner. I look forward to visiting this place again.

Came here because we had a Groupon to use and were blown away. Very cozy, rustic atmosphere. Food and drinks are outstanding. Get the BBQ nachos, a Pop Rocks martini and go from there. We will definitely be back soon!

Went on burger night, which is Wednesdays. The food is great and the kids said that we have to come back. Kathleen was our server and she is very friendly and accommodating. They have the Maine Beer Company on tap, and it was delicious.

A cozy pub and restaurant with ample parking. My husband and I sat at the bar and both Susie and Wes were phenomenal bartenders and super friendly. Our stools were below the hand carved wooden pig-The Farm’s logo and I could see the cake of dust on its derrière! The light fixtures/fans above us were also in need of cleaning. Despite this, the food was good as well as the margarita. We started with the Buffalo tenders which were a tad over fried and I wish it came with celery and carrot sticks. The bleu cheese dressing it came with was very good with hearty chunks of bleu cheese. Then my husband had the steak tips with mashed potatoes and a medley of fresh vegetables (summer squash, zucchini, Bermuda onion). He thought he tasted the butane from the grill on the tips. I had the baked fish tacos and was happy there were three and each taco was filled. Overall, we had a nice evening at The Farm.

This is a decent place to eat. It’s good but not great. You’re definitely going to get a solid meal…just nothing amazing or special. I think I like the atmosphere and the decor more than the actual food. This is a great place to eat in the summer time. They have an outdoor eating area along with volleyball and other games. Good for the family.
