From the moment you walk in to the end of your experience, this place is exceptional! Drinks, appetizers, entrees & desert. The creators of the menu, WOW! This was my second time having dinner here. They did not disappoint. Service was excellent.
My family and I can’t wait to go back!

By far our favorite restaurant in Bloomington! The service is phenomenal and the food is amazing. The portions are generous and quality of food are very reasonable for the price. Every member of the staff was kind and attentive. We love that there is a rotating menu and can try something different every season. Would recommend to anyone looking for a a nice restaurant in town.

The Elm is our favorite restaurant in Bloomington. They are always able to accommodate our needs. The service is professional, friendly, and personable. The wait staff, bar staff, and front of the house are always on point.

We absolutely love the food here and have NEVER been disappointed. The seasonal menu is great and gives us an excuse to go more often.

The Elm also challenges our pallet to try things we never thought we would. This time, it was grilled cabbage with miso gastrique and pepita purée. I never thought I would eat squid ink pasta, but it was delicious. The carrot tartare with fermented shallots tasted like smoked salmon, so amazing and healthy!

Back again! Beef Wellington was amazing! Even the rosemary was placed with care on the beautiful lattice dough. A culinary work of art. Cacio et Pepe is always a favorite!

We will always come back to The Elm. We actually had a window seat next to the kitchen and loved it! Such a professional operation at The Elm. Clean, professional, well managed.

This is an independent, uncompensated review.

Everything about our experience on a Friday night was A+. Our server Chelsea provided great recommendations for wine and food. Our meal was timed out perfectly. The charcuterie board is a must have. Can’t wait to go back!

I’ve been to Elm a few times and the experience has been very consistent.

The atmosphere is always very nice and refined. It’s a beautifully decorated space with a great ambiance.

The food is always “just fine”. I do appreciate the creative ideas behind it but the execution is just at a solid B.

Last time we had the deconstructed deviled egg salad which was great, 5/5.
The farro -arugula salad was delicious too, 5/5.
This has been my experience with other times that I visited before, the appetizers are always awesome.

However, when it came to the main course the dish #1 (the deepfried cauliflower – like item) was way, and I mean it, way too salty. The flavor was also bland for what it was supposed to be “a spicy dish”. 2/5.

The fish had a bit of a swamp flavor to it, but over all it was ok. 3/5.

The duck breast was delicious! But it was a very small portion of meat. 4.5/5.

I also did try a cocktail, which was really good, 5/5 (a miso-infused something)

I must say that the waiter working with us was great! Very helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. 10/5.

In my honest opinion the Elm is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for “something different”. And I especially recommend their drinks and appetizers.

I want to begin by saying I really love the atmosphere. The tables are spaced out enough that there is not much noise and it’s easy to talk to your table. The interior decoration is also very beautiful. There is not much parking but I live close so I walked. The food was delicious but there were just enough weird things that made me give 4 instead of 5 stars. The bread and butter (which is its own appetizer) is OK but definitely not anything to write home about, the butter pat was cold so not easily spreadable. I ordered the cauliflower main dish with sauce and golden raisins knowing it would be lighter than a meat main. However, with the price of the dish, I was expecting a bit more than 1/4 of a cauliflower head for my main meal. I know inflation and prices are high but cauliflower? Seems they could’ve spared a bit more. Additionally the olive oil cake with rhubarb and strawberry ice cream was good but the ice cream stole the show! The cake itself was just ok and the rhubarb had not been sweetened enough to make it palatable, I ended up taking it off. The service was good but not great, we had a new server and she made a few missteps that ultimately would have cost our party money if we hadn’t spoken up (as opposed to slow service, etc). Overall, I definitely want to go back to the elm, i will just choose my dishes more carefully.

Elm does a great job with their seasonal menus. The Winter 2026 menu is fantastic. Bella did a great job of taking care of our large party even though we ran her to death! Very cool, modern atmosphere. A must visit in Bloomington.

The Elm is beautiful, gorgeous even, and the staff were friendly, attentive and good at their jobs. The menu is big enough that there are enough choices but it’s not overwhelming. The cocktail menu is inventive.
I mention all of this because the bar, from the moment you walk in the door, is set very very high. And the food is great. It’s just not quite as beautiful as the decor or as perfect as the menu describes.
The tostones are plentiful and the brussel sprouts are crispy. But the sauces leave something to be desired.
The steak and lamb were excellently cooked but greens and asparagus needed a little more flavor.
But hot damn the olive oil cake was good. The seasonal rhubarb, strawberry and pistachio pairing was divine. Textures and flavors, yum!
I’ll be back for espresso and dessert ASAP!
